DTS Audio

I sure this is not a bug but why does dvdfab convert all my audio to ac3, why can it not just pass through the DTS or DTS HD signal, reason being is because I use a optical cable for 5.1 audio and only DTS signals are processed as sursound otherwise I would need 3 seperate cables, and also have a high end a/v system and would like to take advantage of DTS-HD. Is there a setting I can change?

Unfortunately, I don't know the specifics of what you're doing, but I'm guessing that you're compressing.
In this case,

"When copying content to smaller than the original media with compression, Blu-ray Copy will remove HD audio
to allow more space and reduce the amount of video compression.
Blu-ray Copy will remove the HD audio by converting Dolby TrueHD to Dolby AC-3, DTS-HD audio to DTS."

My method is using other software to rip entire movie, then dvdfab to rip just main movie (dont ask its just the way I do it and its been flawless) I use size as a BD-50 so there should be no issue about size and thus allow DTS to be sent, furthermore I extraction of main movie does not go to a disc rather stays as a file on hard drive. How can I go about retaining the original audio?

Not sure if this helps but if the size of your files is not a problem then you could use Fab's Blu-ray Ripper using the m2ts passthrough profile.

This will give you a m2ts file with original quality video and sound (DTS HD Master or Dolby True HD as per the original).

Just noticed you're using an optical cable to your amp.

Optical cable does not support HD audio formats. The only method for getting HD audio formats (DTS or Dolby HD) is via HDMI.

DVDFab will NOT always convert DTS to AC3. There is a setting for that, and user can enable it manually.

When ripping/burning always uncheck..".remove HD audio"....and then you will have HD audio

I was using an optical cable and my receiver indicated DTS , but not HD. I switched to HDMI, and lo and behold DTS HD Master is now being processed by the amp. I only have a 5.1 setup, so i'm not sure if it will make a lot of difference, but any upgrade in sound quality is welcome.

For more info I use HDMI for my a/v in living room and that will play ac3 in surround, but on my computer I use optical.
I could use dvdfab ripper if it would only rip main movie?
I never have the remove HD audio box checked, as that would defeat the purpose.
Will post log files next time I buy a movie, I just put my dvd's in attic.

Fab's Blu-ray ripper is ideal for ripping just the main movie.

Guess my only other question before I switch to the ripper is does it bypass copy protection as well?

Yes, all Fab modules do. And if you want to use a program like Nero then you can use Passkey

I am curious, where is the setting for DTS? When compressing a file, say an mkv file from a bluray, if it has TrueHD can you encode the audio to DTS? I ask because DTS has 2.5 times the fidelity has AC-3, (Dolby Digital) 1.5 mbps versus 640 kbps.
