I have been a lifetime member since Version 4 and have not posted very often because I have always had good luck. The last 3 days Fab has slowed down to a crawl. For years I used my laptop to do my movies but when my external Blue-Ray case went bad, I took the drive and put it in my Desktop, and even though it has a faster CPU it was still a little slower than my Laptop but not enough to worry about. For the last month it was taking 20 to 40 minutes to put a main movie or Full Disk on HDD, all of a sudden 3 days ago it started taking 2 to 3 hours to do the same. I recently added a NVIDIA GeForce 210 1024 mb DDR3 video card and also Power DVD 11. I have the codec set to software and have made no other changes to the system. This problem started suddenly and I have tried several changes in settings and no difference. If it is CPU or computer oriented problem is there a way to check. Thank you in advance for any advice.

Hi csbond2
Check you DMA status.
You can try resetting it and try again.
Open Fab Click the Green √ top right > General > make sure Check for DMA Automatically is Checked and also Click the Reset DMA to the right, click OK and restart Fab, you may also have to restart your computer.
Hope this helps

After some research , I was able to fix the problem. it seems that windows xp has a problem when you have a disk that it has trouble reading. After so many tries it will revert the read status of the drive to PIO and will not let you change it. I had to unmount my drive and then remount it to change it .I will try to put a link to the page that gives the rundown on it , but i have never put a link on here before so if it dont come through i am sorry.

Hi csbond2
I believe you could have done the same thing I suggested in my post.
Glad you got it working.
