    Quick Sync A/V Codec settings?

I just installed Lucid Virtu so that I can use the Quick Sync code built into the Intel 2600K processor. Should I set all the Video Decoder and Encoder options to Quick Sync or is there a more efficient alternative using CUDA and Quick Sync? Much to my surprise the Lucid Virtu stuff setup without a problem (that I'm aware of) and Fab seems to work ok with the attached settings.

I like talking to myself on this subject! This link from DVDFab seems to say Enable Quick Sync for everything.

As stated in another thread Quick Sync does not support VC1 so I set it to use CUDA and thought I was happy! But...as soon as I try to backup a MainMovie that requires some compression to fit on a BD25 disc DVDFab Blu Ray Copy hangs. If I change the VC1 setting to Software all is well except the 2600K running at 4.5 GHZ runs for ~50 Minutes to complete the task. I have tried entering DVDFab.exe in the Lucid Application list but that seems to have no effect. Has anybody figured out how to get at the Nvidia CUDA GPU when using Licid Virtu to use Intel's Quick Sync GPU?

I gave up on Lucid Virtu and went back to using just the 560TI card. Lucid Virtu does not give me the option of using Intel Quick Sync or Nvidia CUDA as needed or requested in the Fab settings - OR - at least I can't seem to make it work. Comments would be appreciated for the Z68 users.

          Ken ... I have a Core i7 2500k on a z68 AsRock Motherboard with a GTX580.

The way the virtu, and intel drivers work depends on whether you have your monitor plugged into your NVIDIA card or the on board GPU.

I plug my monitor into the NVIDIA GTX580 so by default everything is optimised by the nvidia drives to use the GTX580 (games etc.). Without virtu enabled, I can not even get Intel Quick Sync option to work. Enabling virtu and adding dvdfab.exe and fabcore.exe to the supported application list and using quick sync to decode and software to encode, I get the quickest time and almost original quality H264 mkv files created from bluray iso's (around 6 - 10GB per file for 1920 X 1080 source).

I tried using NVIDIA CUDA to encode and got a full bluray rip to mkv from about 25-30 minutes, down to 18 minute ... but there was a noticeable loss of quality in high frame rate scenes using CUDA to encode.

HOWEVER ... at the time of writing the last two releases of Lucid Virtu (1.2.113 and 1.2.114) have broken DVDFAB. DVDFab will not even open up if Lucid Viru is running. So currently, I've got it disabled with CUDA decoding and software encoding and the time/quality is acceptable. I put back Lucid 1.2.112 and tested DVDFab and it works again ... so I've raised a Lucid support call relating to this.
