3D only Disc Playback

If I have "Enable 3D only disc to be played on 2D display" checked and make a back-up of a 3D only disc will it only play 2D if it is played in a 3D system or will it still play the 3D version if it detects the 3D hardware but allow 2D if no appropriate hardware detected?

Hope this is not too confusing?

The option “Enable Blu-ray 3D only disc to be played on 2D display” is set to default in DVDFab Blu-ray copy. This means the Blu-ray backups made by Blu-ray copy shall be compatible with more devices. For example, you finished the backup of a 3D blu-ray disc. As you know, the original 3D blu-ray discs may not be well played on a 2D screen. The new function allows you to play some ?3D blu-ray disc on 2D displays by making some backups. Just backup your 3D Blu-ray Discs and play them on 3D display device or the common 2D screen, it’s easy and convenient.

I burned about nearly a dozen of 3d movies by now and they all seem to work pretty fine. All image were make using the "Enable 3d disc to play in 2d player". I sometime get an error on screen with some image I made telling me that I need a 3d enabled tv ov player in order to play this disc??? Also, I tried to play my working 3d disc copies on a standard bluray player (non-3d) and I get the same error message. For mew, this option is clearly not working... Am I doing something wrong? Thanks for your help.
