Copying a BLURAY takes literally forever

My backup using Movie Only was slow also

I used v8.1.7.8. Movie Only to make a BluRay backup of Ghost Protocol also. It took 4 hrs. and the most time a backup has taken me using movie only is 1 to 1+30 hrs. depending on the length of the movie.

      blu-ray takes forever

drkbrn23, you could try re-setting your DMA in fab!

What kind of build do you have, that makes a big differnce!
CPU, M/B, Video Card, Ram, ect. ect.

How do you rip?, to HDD first? Many different factors! I hadn't had a blu-ray go more than 30-35min's! If have to compress, its less than an hour!

Post your system on the fourm, and see what responce you get! Are look at posting your chipset results on the main fourm page and see what is working for other people!

They are now making Blu Ray Writer/Burners in USB 3.0, so try one of those out, and see if it's any faster.

Well I'll tell you all the mistakes I was doing to see if maybe your doing the same. For my first time I was copying straight from disk which took 30hrs. Then I ripped it to my HDD and it took 20hrs. cuz I was reading and writing from the same HDD. Now I rip it to 1 HDD and write to another and it takes only 2-3hrs.

Yes, like laz305 said, you may want to invest in some additional HDDs... either internal or external (preferably eSATA or USB 3.0).

I just bought 3 more 2TB Fantom External eSATA HDDs cheaper than the bare drives cost themselves!

I prefer to copy straight to BDR-25 disc and I try to use FULL MOVIE because I like to have the extras that come with the movies. I have tried using MAIN MOVIE as well as going to HD and still it takes over 13hrs to complete. At this very moment I’m copying another BLURAY and it is on 10.46% and it’s been over an 1 HR 20mins and this is my third (3rd) time trying this today in fact it’s been stuck on 10.46% for over 35 mins and the TASK TIME LEFT clock is still showing 00:00:00 but TIME ELAPSED clock is running. I have had this computer about 2yrs and DVDFAB was not always working like this, when it started working like this, I don’t know but I sure wish I could get it corrected it is really pissing me off big time. By the way it is still stuck on 10.46% and ELAPSED TIME is 1:57HRS and ticking while TIME LEFT clock is still 00:00:00… And I have reset DMA and made the software changes as suggested by DVDFAB.

Make sure your settings page looks like mine, see pic
Do you also do weekly maintenance on your computer e.g. clean out junk files, clean registry, defragment of HDD...

                  Sumthin is set wrong

                  Drkbrn23,
My system is considerably older and slower than yours is, and I very seldom spend more than 3 hours to copy a movie. Usually it is about an hour and a half to copy to hdd, compress to 25GB and then copy to a blank disc. Something in your settings must be goofy for such slow results. I'm slow, but you are wow, way too slow for your system. Is the disc clean? Do you have room on your hdd? I cursed at the length of time a movie was taking the other day and finally gave up on it and then looked at how much room I had left on the drive and found I didn't have enough. Ooops. I deleted some old movies and then everything went fine. Good luck.

I have the exact same problem on copying a Blu-ray. I only use Ver. 8.132 twice on 2 different blu-ray disc. Prior to that, I only use it on making copy of DVD, in which there is no problem there.

My computer is a 2 CPU x 6 core Intel Xeon 2.8GHz, so a total of 12 core, running Win 7 Pro at 12 GB of RAM. This is 1 of the fastest computer currently.

The first disc is Johny English Reborn, the reading of the blu-ray disc is fine, but the writing was slow down to 0.1X, and it took about 16 hr. The copy does work properly.

The 2nd disc is March of the Penguins, it's only a 20GB disc, but it took at least 10 to 12 hr. The copy does work properly.

Clearly there is something wrong. My question is, I can't afford to wear out my Blu-ray burner like that. Can I write the Target File to my hard drive, and use other software like Nero to burn that Target File to my blu-ray?
