My first back up BR burn

Sorry if a newbie to Blue Ray burning.

First attempt at backing up "Pirates of the Carribean At Worlds End" onto BD-R media 25G. Using Beta 6.2.1.0 and chose "Movie Only" for burning option. Ended up with "BDMV\Stream" folder with .m2ts file inside (approx 25 gig). Placed this Burned Blue Ray DVD into my Panasonic BD-60 Player and nothing happens except for "reading" message. It never plays on my player but I am able to get to play on my PC.

I hate this. I have over 2000 normal DVD's no problem. Grrrrrrrrrrrr..!!!!!!!!

Any help kicking me in the right direction would be much appreciated.

    TIA,

    Slimer8

    Hi e143slime8,
You are not the only one having this problem with that particular Panasonic, I have seen on multiple forums people having issue with BD - 60.
What I have been suggesting is to try a firm ware update sometimes it corrects the problem sometimes not.
If the firm ware doesn't do it and it is a recent purchase you might try returning it to the place of purchase, for an exchange or refund.
If not a recent purchase then you should contact Panasonic directly to try and have it repaired, if it is still under warranty, from what I am seeing Panasonic is going to be fixing a lot of these.

Thanks much, will give them a call first thing tomorrow. And no, firmware updated today and that did not solve the problem.

Will be bringing the burned Blue Ray I have to try out on another player to narrow down if it's Panny's problem.

That's a good idea, don't know what your feelings toward Sony are, but I have two Sony BD players and they function great.
The models that I have are,
        BDP-S560 & BDP- BX1.
        Just a thought.

Update, went to BJ's, popped media into Samsung on display and it played fine.

Called Panasonic "first they heard about the problem but they would be glad to take my information and forward it to their [technical staff]".

Maybe an answer in my next life or with a firmware update.

Guess it's off to get another burner.

Will also be lookin for threads with other people having same problem and their progress if any.

          Thanks again.

I have same problem with my Panasonic BD-60. I talked to Panasonic technical support and they indicated that the latest firmware (version 2.2 dated 11/30/09) would solve the problem.

I downloaded the v 2.2 file and followed Panasonic's instructions for extracting the .FRM file (the actual update file used by the bd player). This file must be burned to a CD-R and used with the bd player to update the firmware. Here is the tricky part. In order for the CD-R to be read by the bd player, the CD-R must use the ISO9660 format. Windows XP uses this format, but Windows Vista changed to UDF format. So if you have Windows Vista you must use another program. I used Nero to create the CD-R and it successfully updated the firmware in the BD-60. (Note that BD-60, BD-601 and BD-605 all use the same firmware.)

After updating the firmware my BD-60 nows plays with no problem the blu ray backups that I created with DVDFAB6.

            I hope that helps.

Thanks, will give it a try tomorrow and let you know how that works. My update of the firmware to 2.2 was done through ethernet connection. Hopefully manual update will work as mentioned.

BGTW, I am running Win7 Ultimate right now.

                Update, strange.

Just backed up Terminator Salvation "movie only" to HD as .iso and burned via ImgBurn and got a successful copy that does play in my BD60.

Used same method as for Pirates.

Will try a few more tomorrow and post my success or not.

What BD-R media are you using. Panasonic players can be very picky about playing lower quality media.
Life is too short to drink bad wine . . .

                    Verbatim BD-R is the media.

                      its not the media.

its the process when using main movie movie. Some movies work and some don't.
It depends on the movie. I have made ISO files on HD using main movie mode, some work, some don't.

The ones that don;t backup perfectly using full disc. At the moment i would be only backing up in full disc mode, until the bugs are ironed out with main movie mode.

Another solution is to use ImgBurn as a stand alone burn engine, I have had some problems when trying to burn from DVDFab, so I just open up ImgBurn drag and drop the files to the -Write files/folders to disc, and burn from there.
