    DTS converting to AC3...

I just recently started backing up my BD movies and noticed an oddity. When I select the main feature to back up (BD25 disks), once I get to the start screen, it says it's converting my DTS audio to AC3. Is this true? How do I disable it? I looked in the settings but didn't see anything. One of the reasons I went BD was for the DTS (Yamaha 7.2 reciever, Bose 6.1 surround, Yamaha powered sub). I like my audio and would like to keep the DTS tracks where availible.

    Thanx for your time.

      Dts - ac3

Hi, -- I have a very similar setup y\to you and always get DTS Master HD output indicated on the Yamaha display with great sound and separation - I replay through a DUNE Media Player - So this is probably (I say probably...) not an issue

        Correction

Hi again --- The only difference is that I don't burn to BD Disk --- I only copy the main move as an M2TS file to my NAS drive --- Even if I convert a movie to MKV, I still get DTS Master HD

          Hey, thanx for the replies.

I don't have this issue when I encode my BDs as .avi files. Only when copying from disk to disk.

            Hi, Hexen525

DVDFab does not convert the PCM/DTS to AC-3 when compressing to BD25.
The check-box of "Converter PCM/DTS to AC-3" is just enabled when compressing to BD9/BD5.
It'll convert PCM/DTS to AC-3 when check it; Not convert PCM/DTS to AC-3 when uncheck it.
            See the screenshot.
            Hope this help you!

Hi Hexen hope you got the gist of what Wilson was saying. So long as you don't have the convert to AC3 box checked it will definately keep the DTS soundtrack. The message that it is converting (the shot you posted) still appears however. Confused? I was, but I guess it must make sense to the developers. Must be something in the Chinese to English translation perhaps

                Haha, must be ;-)

I see now. The line is always listed, but only has a check box when using a BD9 or smaller disk. OK, kewl!!! Thanx all for your help!!!!

I'm still having this problem, even with the update to 8.1.9.8.
I'm going BR to ISO, totally uncompressed, and yet it still is converting DTS-MA to DTS 5.1. There is no option to "uncheck" Convert to AC3.

I'm trying to make my BluRay library accessible across the house using PowerDVD12.

Tried with a number of discs, including The Artist, M:i Ghost Protocol and Dark Knight.

On one attempt -- The Artist, going to folders rather than ISO -- my receiver did show DTS-MA, but when I selected "Show Information" on PowerDVD, it showed regular DTS.

I would be pretty certain if your receiver tells you its seeing dts-ma then it is.
Could you perhaps elaborate more on what your set up is. I personally convert to MKV audio copy and playback via media player that is DTS-MA pass thru capable and have had no problems. I have also tried the ISO option and again no problems with DTS-MA.

                      @thedigitalhobo,
A simple way to check is inserting the output iso into DVDfab and check the audio track list.
What's more, please check the setting in Common Settings->Blu-ray Copy, uncheck "Always remove HD audio" checkbox.

oddly, after upgrading my PowerDVD, the same file now only gets a DTS from my receiver.

I've got an Onkyo 709 receiver.
Home built HTPC running Win7 on a GIGABYTE GA-P55M-UD2 mobo and Radeon HD 5850.

All of my copies now just show DTS, even though "remove HD Audio" is not selected.

                          Hi everyone.

I, too, am confused about this. I rip my blu ray movies to my hard drive because my grandson likes to occasionally destroy one or two.

I am using 8.2.1.5 and I have my setting as BD50. When I click on the NEXT button after selecting which Title to copy, I have the statement:

                          Convert DTS/LPCM audio to AC3

I DO NOT have a check box next to this statement so I can't deselect it. I, too, have looked in the preferences but haven't found anaything.

I want full picture and audio quality (that's why I choose BD50) so I don't understand why the conversion occurs.

Are there any DVDFab staff members that can clarify this setting once and for all?

                          Thank you.

Hi, if you're using BD50 the checkbox will not appear and you will get DTS. The checkbox only appears if you're trying to compress the disc, to BD25 for instance, as an option to save space.
