Compressing to BD25, stops encoding at 12.10%

I'm trying to make all my BR movies fit onto BD25 discs when I get my burner soon, but it won't compress files and stops encoding. Currently, I am trying to compress No Country for Old Men, but it stops encoding at 12.10%. I have tried with default settings and disabling GPU decoding and encoding. Anyone have any suggestions? If you need anymore info, let me know ASAP. I'll try another movie and post the results also.

    DVDfab reads while encoding:

Try turning off Lightning-Recoding. I cannot tell from your logs, but do you have all other hardware acceleration turned off?

I have Lightning-Recoding off now and its running at 0.43 MB/s.. It's at 3.75% in 52 minutes.. I know re-encoding takes awhile, buts that's insane!

Yup, it's enough to drive you insane alright...
When you get a chance, please try another BD so we can start to isolate the problem... maybe just a bad disc

Too bad, my money was on rjl's LR suggestion.

All files are on my HDD. The reason why I'm doing this is because my 3TB external is running out of room and I'm either going to buy another external or buy a external bluray burner. Here is the log from the second attempt of No Country for Old Men with all accelerations off:

I tried also running this with GPU running DXVA for H.264, but it stopped encoding also. Until I get money to build a gaming desktop, I'm stick with my HP dv6-6135dx laptop.

I will test this again with Red Tails (no HD audio, BD25, no GPU acceleration, no Lighting) and see how it goes. Either, I'm going to be stuck waiting hours for re-encoding, or when I get a burner, buy 50GB discs...

All of my movies are already ripped to the HDD using DVDfab. I'll try seeing how going straight from disc to a compressed file will work.

Try setting all A/V codecs to software and turn lightening recoding and have a try.

My money was on rjl as well. I had the same issue - followed his advise (for 3D movies, that got stuck at roughly the same %). and up to now (5 different movies), the issue was solved by reverting to original settings (some times HD off/on) with basically encoding H264 : Software although I kept Cuda for decoding (H264 & VC1) and Software for MPEG2. It worked. (I had also intalled V8.1.8.7beta).

                      @ aTollHouse

On the same 2 movies I used Cuda on both encoding and decoding and v8187beta and didn't have a problem!

He doesn't have an NVIDIA card and can't use CUDA. That's why I suggested turning off GPU activity.

According to this comparison, the A8-3500M CPU in your dv6-6135dx laptop is not much better than the core 2 duo E6700. It took me over 4 hours to compress Girl with the dragon tattoo from 48gb down to 23gb using a somewhat slower core 2 duo E6400.

On your laptop, did you make sure it was running at max performance?
