    Copying BDAV blu-ray discs

I recently downloaded and tested the 8196 Qt version of DVDFab to see if it would backup my BDAV blu-ray discs created on my Panasonic blu-ray recorder.

The Panasonic encrypts the programs using AACS to your own discs, but I wanted to backup these to ISO files on my PC and then reuse the BD-RE discs over and over again to save buying new blu-ray media.

To my surprise it did actually decrypt the programs, but only using file mode, full disc mode and clone mode did not work, and previous versions I tried did not even recognize the BDAV format.

    Now the problem:
I have transferred some HD programs to a 25GB BD-RE disc, backed them up using 8196 Qt and they play fine in VLC media player, the only problem is that no audio track was detected and so I got silent movies. I used tsMuxeR on the decryped files and sure enough there was no audio stream in there.

Hopefully this will be fixed in the next release.

    Hi solrac42,
DVDFab for BDAV just supports BD Copy Main movie, BD ripper and BD to DVD. Do not support BD Copy Full Disc and Clone yet.
What do you mean about the HD Programs? Is it that a BD movie contains DTS-HD,DTS-HD Master or AC3 True HD audio track? More info are needed.
What's more, please post the internal log. Thanks.

      copying BDAV blu-ray discs

      Hi terry5,

The HD programs I refer to are movies I have recorded onto my Panasonic blu-ray recorder and then used its copy to BD media disc feature, these discs are automatically encrypted by the recorder even if the content is a home made movie.

I noticed that when using Main movie mode no audio is shown on the panel on the right, so there is nothing to select.

Below is the log of a single movie decryped by 8196 Qt.

I too have the same problem when attempting to copy blu-ray discs recorded on a Panasonic Blu-ray recorder. I have downloded each new release of DVDFab Blu-ray copy from 8200Qt through 8215Qt. All leave me with an output blu-ray disc that cannot be played back on my Panasonic Blu-ray recorder, my Sony Blu-ray player, nor on my PC via Cyberlink PowerDVD 9 Ultra. PowerDVD says that my disk is empty, even though Windows File Manager shows, what appears to be, a normal file structure.
I have also download 9006Beta. Although I like the new interface, I am left with an output disk upon which even Windows File Manager cannot find any files.
              Help please.

                Hi, phil22

Please download the latest build 8128 and have a try!
                1. Copy to HD first by DVDFab.
                2. Burn the output file to blank disc by ImgBurn.

Should that be version 8218 rather than 8128?

Have no sound on burned disc with 8.2.1.8.
Have also upgraded to 8.2.2.2 with same result.
I have noticed the read and write operations undertaken as requested that "remove HD audio" is displayed even though this is not selected in the options. Is this correct?

Copying BDAV discs from Panasonic recorder

                        Hi Phil22,

Good and bad news, first do DR file conversion on the movie you want to transfer to your PC in HG mode, this is the highest quality HD conversion from the 'Direct Recording' (DR) mode that the Panasonic uses, then transfer it to Blu ray disc and DVDFab will recognize the audio.

Unfortunately the process never completes when using blu-ray copy with the latest versions 9.0.1.2 and 8.2.2.2, it always stops, but I am sure they will soon fix this.

Many thanks solrac42 for workaround, I'll certainly remember that for the future.
Unfortuantely, I have a number of blu-ray discs cut on the Panasonic via DR mode, with the original on the HDD deleted. So I guess I will just have to wait for problem to be fixed for those.

                            Hi Phil22,

I have a work around for your DR movies that you have made already and deleted the original DR files from your Panasonic.

Follow the steps below and you will be successful.

                            1. Use DVDFab Blu-Ray copy to decrypt your DR blu-ray movie, this will only process the video, keep track of where the m2ts file is stored when DVDFab finishes it.

                            2. If the movie you have is not copy restricted you can copy it back to the Panasonic HDD in XP mode, then re-copy it back to the blu-ray disc, this will not be encrypted now and you can use tsMuxer to extract the audio from the m2ts file on the blu-ray disc.

                            3. Now use tsMuxer to mux the video and audio files together using the blu-ray output option and set the audio delay feature in tsMuxer to -2000, (it may necessary to adjust this number to get the audio sync correct).

I have been successful in transferring HD copy restricted titles this way because I did not delete the original DR file from the Panasonic HDD, I did a DR file conversion to XP mode so that it would not be encrypted when I transferred it to a blu-ray disc, in order to extract the audio from it.

If you have any questions, I can assist you in this work around.
