    Hi glenns
There are many resources on the net for members to research for buying 3D movies cheap, Amazon, eBay etc...
I for one do not want to see this forum shut down due to Copyright Infringement Laws, because if that happens there will be no forum for members to get help with DVD Fab.
Lets move past this and have a good weekend.
    Thanks

90312:I read the quoted rule in message #20 as quoted by the CB929Who deleted the first link i have no where in any of my posts ask anyone to rent disks and copy them.I enclosed the link to show the person i was talking too their are many 3d movies available for fab to make legal back ups from.

This company as all that i know of that rent disks also sell them often cheaper than in stores and although cb929 didn't know this from looking at the link i enclosed a email from the company stating they do sell them with a email address so he can check it out himself.I have done nothing wrong as quoted in message #20.And backed up my statement with facts and enclosed email addresses to check on this.

I find your conduct as a moderator unbecoming and downright nasty to paying members who are not guilty of anything.

Do you understand the purpose of quoting? It is to provide context to a response. the particular user had a very long post only part of which I intended to and in fact responded to - none of which was anything to do with material posted on any website. If you bother to read the information in my post all of it is concerning technical information - what can and can't be done with the DVDFab and the media players currently available.

If you think users here are responsible for vetting what other users post I think you may be asking too much. In any case, I still don't appreciate your rude tone.

If your forum's rules are that when someone responds to a user they have to make sure that everything that user posted is kosher before quoting - then just get rid of the quoting feature and be done with it - that way the individual who posted the information is responsible for it.

Nevertheless, my point to you stands - treat this product's paying customers with respect before throwing around false accusations and have the decency to admit when you have made an error instead of posting a follow up message with "Don't do it again".

If you represent this product and I had not already purchased it your follow up statement of "Don't do it again" instead of an apology for your error would have been enough for me to put my money elsewhere. Keep that in mind as I assume the makers of this product are looking to keep making sales. Oh and part of being an adult is admitting when you have made an error.

I'm not going to e-mail them.
Our decision on this is final.
As 90312 said do not post it again.

I think your talking about putting subtitles in non 3d movies and may be different than 3d movies. When i tried to make a mkv with side by side 3d i used the profile (mkv audio pass through 3d) in 3d ripper and just tried chapter 10-11 of Avatar where their is native tongue being used where the sub titles come up when they speak it.

In the full 3d Fab reduced to 25 gig ISO all the subtitles for the movie are present just like the store brought disk if you hit the subtitle button you can here the audio in i think 4 different languages on my media player the full moving menu is also their to select chapters etc. Also the what i believe are forced titles are their and come up by themselves without pressing the subtitle button when they talk in native tongue.

Now how do we know if these are forced subtitles remaining on the compressed disk or are these subtitles for this movie printed on the movie itself? US version region1 disk. This plays fine on my media player that only can play 1.0 menues of blu ray disks.

Side by side 3d i don't think can work with any sub titles at all forced or otherwise as the picture is split in two and recombined by the tv so if you know how do do this what steps do you take to make a side by side with any kind of subtitles forced or not?

I tried it with Avatar with 9.0.2.6 fab version and checked the forced subtitle box and it wouldn't do it with profile mkv audio pass through 3d so what did i do wrong did i use the wrong profile? or were you not using a 3d profile when you made yours?

Branched only means your media player can't read the blu-rays menu correct? Now the most important question becomes in my mind how many of all your disks have the forced subtitle problem and how do you tell if Avatar has this or it's printed on the film print so you would always see these subtitles?

Excuse me! I didn't post any references to any websites violating anything so I would appreciate not being lumped in with anyone else - and in particular as a paying customer of this product I would appreciate it if you leave the rude warnings behind - especially when you incorrectly accuse someone.

I tried to make a side by side mkv just chapter 10-11 with forced sub titles only and its a no go maybe because fab can't display those titles in a side by side picture.I also tried with regular subtitles with the same results.

When the same movie was compressed to 25 gig full 3d the sub titles are their and they played on my media player without hitting the subtitle button for the native tongue translations. So the answer is easy for me with the very few disks that have these type translations at least in 3d just compress to 25 full 3d problem solved.
    Glenns,

Your observations are a bit perplexing. Fab can in fact display the forced subtitles in an MKV if you burn them into the video - I have successfully created several that do this. If you try do the same thing without burning them into the video then it will not work when you go from 2D to 3D which is what i suspect is happening to you.

Now, regarding your compressed 25gb example, is that a BDMV or ISO you are talking about? If so, what you are suggesting doesn't seem possible as when you compress to a BDMV or ISO using DVDFab my understanding is it does not burn the subtitles into the video and if your media player can't read the blu-ray menu structure there's nothing to tell the media player to turn on the subtitles.

[QUOTE=glenns;134447]Evt:I have not run into movies with subtitles in my 3d collection like the Godfather you talked about. i like to ask how many movies have subtitles like the Godfather in all the movies you own?

Same question for anyone else. What are we talking about 5-6 made in the USA movies? Solution is simple to me just burn disks for the few movies that don't work in your media player or leave them on your computer drive to be used with a software player.

    About compressing the video
i am a fussy video guy if the Fab compressed video looked bad compressed i wouldn't do it but in my humble option they look good enough to me even on my 60 inch plasma and my 8 foot projection screen. If your not compressing your blu rays at 30-40 gigs each even a 4t hard drive will fill up in no time so your going to need to spend a lot on hard drives to keep them uncompressed.

You always have the store brought disk at full resolution should you not be happy with the compressed disk or if you have the title problem you still have your master disk so it should really be a non problem in my humble option but as always to each his own.

    Hey glenns,

In my collection, I would estimate that 1 in 4 movies either has forced subtitles or seamless branching which is why I suggest that in general anyone who doesn't have one of the few players (e.g. Dune and PCH really) that support blu-ray menus, that MKV is a better bet and the price of a media player that plays MKVs but not blu-ray menus is significantly cheaper too.

Regarding whether to compress or not, it's a personal decision. For me, the way I see it I generally buy 2 TB drives for my server for about $100 and my movie-only ISOs average about 25 GB in size so the cost per movie in terms of storage works out to at most $1.50 - to me that's worth it but again everyone will have a different opinion on what's worth it.

I then use the MKV Toolnix header editor to mark them as forced and my media players obey this instruction when playing the resultant MKV.

I do a lot of other stuff like artwork, NFO files, multiple audio tracks and multiple subs muxed in the file which is not possible with Fab.
    GregiBoy,

I'm not too familiar with all the MKV options as for the past two years I've generally only ripped to movie-only blu-ray ISOs which my Dune media players support flawlessly (seamless branching and forced subs included) except for 3D blu-ray's that is. However, I would think if your goal is to just keep the PGS subtitles that there must be software that does that after which you can use the header editor as you already pointed out to mark the subtitles as forced.

By the way, what are you using for a media player? I ask as there are still many media players that can't recognize the forced subtitle flag so it's nice to have a list of working players.
