    Crashing on start-up

Hi, I'm having major problems with DVDFAB on Win 8 having tried both the latest and previous version.
As soon as I click on the icon I get the DVDFAB Report-Info (crash report) come up, no spash screen or anything else.
I've also tried DVDFAB 8 but that doesn't even give me a crash screen.
I have had this working just as recently as last week but I don't know what might have affected it.
    Here's the v8 log :
    DVDFab 8.2.2.7 (2013/02/22 11:15:38)

    0m 01.67s: Start preload dll...
    0m 01.72s: Load dll successful.
0m 01.72s: Start load fabplay dll...
0m 01.78s: Load fabplay dll successful.
    0m 01.78s: Windows os type is: 14.
    0m 01.79s: Transfer settings successful.

    DVD9 log (9.0.2.2 is the same) :
    DVDFab 9.0.2.6 (2013/02/22 10:47:30)

    0m 00.01s: Start preload dll...
    0m 00.06s: Load dll successful.
0m 00.07s: Start load fabplay dll...
0m 00.13s: Load fabplay dll successful.
    0m 00.13s: Windows os type is: 14.
    0m 00.13s: Transfer settings successful.

AnyDVD is running but not enabled. Also tried with AV & firewall disabled.
    Have uninstalled and reinstalled.

    Help!

    Thanks, Simon

We will check this issue asap.

ferraris, what processor do you have? Just wondering if it's an AMD.

            Hi ferraris
Make sure that the other software is not even running and completely disabled.

SIMON:Uninstall Fab then use ccleaner a free program you can download from the net.Clean files then registry with ccleaner then re download Fab and try again.

Before getting involved with registry cleaners I'd rather see what the official diagnosis is.

Ccleaner is safe and I do it routinely on every update as well as cleaning the leftovers from the windows/prefetch folder. But I'm not sure it will help you, there seems to be a correlation of Windows 8+AMD processors+DVDFab unproven but a lot of it going around.

Intgerestingly I also get the crassh screen when uninstalling DVDFAB. Not sure if that means anything.

Well I've uninstalled, ccleaned and reinstalled and the positive news is there's no crash report now. The negative news is DVDFAB's still not loading - I don't get anything now.

Try running Fab as administrator it solved some issues some were having in Windows 8, if it persists run in comparability mode for Windows 7.Also if you have bit defender internet security 13 seems to have problems with the Fab program. Also try a reboot.

Tried those, no difference. I am using Bitdefender and tried it with AV & FW disabled but not happy uninstalling Bitdefender totally. I did see from the log that it had allowed access for DVDFAB when I reinstalled it.

Also tried the 9.0.2.7 BETA but that didn't make any difference either.

At least xxxxxx is working reliably.

Please don't mention competitor's software by name, and I know of at least two other members that had to remove Bit Defender completely to make things work correctly. It would be interesting to know if that is your issue, you can always put it back on if you find you need it.
