Max read rate of 9 MB/s

When copying a Blu-ray movie to my hard drive, the transfer rate tops out at 9 MB/s. This is without any conversion of any kind.

    My hardware:
    MSI GT 70 laptop
    i7 3610 Qm CPU
    12 GB DDR 3 RAM
    GTX 675M GPU
    256 GB SSD
Matshita UJ 260 internal burner rated at 6X

None of the performance indicators are loaded up.
    CPU 3%
    HDD 12%
    RAM 20%

Other users on this forum are getting read rates over 27 MB/s.
I have experimented with all of the read settings in Dvdfab with no luck.
    Any assistance would be appreciated.

      Hi Jay:

As Greg indicated, it's got to be your drive. You have to remember that you're using a notebook and I haven't seen a Blu-ray drive faster than 6x or 8x for notebooks and that's what's really holding back the speed. My notebook reads at about the same speed as you're getting but my desktop computers which use Pioneer 15x drives get 20-25MB/s.

You might want to check that DMA is enabled, a longshot, but you never know....

If I use Windows Explorer and drag a large (over 1 GB) .M2TS file from a Blu-ray disc and drop it into a folder on my hard drive it will transfer at 10-20 MB/s. I am using Windows 8.

          The DMA is enabled.

Copying is a far simpler task than decrypting.
