    3D Copy 2d playback of 3d movies

is this feature done auto when you burn an image to disk?

tried to burn a 3d only image to a RE disk but it still only plays on a 3d system. did not rip the iso image using dvdfab though

ive been searching the forums and cannot find anything on this

    any info is appreciated

You have to use Fab to rip the 3d disk to hard drive then you can play the iso from hard drive in 2d with software player and a free virtual drive program from fab if that's what you want. The setting for this is in Fabs files under blu ray copy theirs a check box that you put a check in if it's not checked already that says play 3d disk in 2d player.

You can also burn the iso to disk and make a 2d or 3d copy depends on what you pick on the second page of blu ray copy. Now if your looking for a 3d only disk to play in 2d on a 2d player I am not sure I never had call to test this. With a media player like i have you have a choice to watch in 2d or 3d but with a stand alone 2d player your going to have to give it a try and let us know.
Good question.Tell me what movies are 3d only your working with and I will see if i got a 50 gig already made iso to test for you.

      thanks for the reply...

I was under the impression that a 3d only disk could be played on a 2d display....

      in the common settings>>bluray tab

one of the choices is : enable bluray 3d only discs to be played on 2d display

this choice is check off on default

perhaps I was mistaken to think this meant that if I burn the image with dvdfab it would allow me to play a 3d only disk on a 2d stand alone player

I have tested a number of 3d iso fab made disks they all played in 2d on my Panasonic regular blu ray player.Jurassic park 3d threw up a (your 3d setup was not detected you can play from the regular 3d disk included in the set) even though pressing play for a few seconds while this message is being displayed resulted in the disk playing in 2d anyway.Tested 3d disks were:

          Jurassic park 3d
          A hunting in Salem 3d
March of the wooden soldiers 3d
          Cave of forgotten dreams 3d

Test complete conclusion Fab made 3d disks will play in 2d on 2d blu ray Panasonic player.

            thanks again for the reply...

is your Panasonic a 2d only player?

I think my problem was that the images were not created using dvdfab

im going to rerip that disk with dvdfab and see if that the difference

In my post 659 theirs a typo error being fab doesn't allow editing the next day i can't correct it so here is what it should of said:

Your 3d set up was not detected you can play in 2d from the 2nd disk included in the 3d set of disks.

When I hit the play button for a few seconds while this message is being displayed the main menu came up and played in 2d anyway.

This disk says its a 3d only disk but when the disk is made with Fab it will play in 2d on a 2d player.I only have the Panasonic 2d player to test it on but I would assume until proven different that all 2d players will be able to play 3d only Fab made disks in 2d players.Their is a setting for this in Fab settings that I believe is set by default but check your Fab settings to be sure.

I reripped the hobbit disk 1 3d only disk using dvdfab to iso and then did a full bd copy to a bd-re disk just to test.

I don't seem to have the luck that youre having.

I get up to the screen that says "this bluray disk requires a bluray 3D player connected to a 3D display.

your bluray player does not support bluray 3D

no matter hold long I hold down the play button here...nothing happens. if I press the ok button it reloads the disk.

the ability to play 3d only disk on 2d display is checked by default so im assuming it should have worked

Well it should work but maybe not on all players. Can you play regular 3d copy's that are not 3d only in your 2d player like i did?

Do you have another player or blu ray game system to test this on?

You should be able to turn it into a 2d disk on the second page of blu ray copy
however I don't know anyone who has done this.Just why do you want to do this is it to play on a second tv and 2d player in the bedroom?

Their are not that many 3d only disks out their I have most of the 3d disks so this should really not be so much of a problem.Just for the sake of it try hitting pop up menu or menu, skip or search and see if the main menu comes up during the time the message is playing.Make sure the disk is clean also.

Just choose the setting 3D to 2D and you will copy/burn to a 2D and play fine in your freestanding player... No biggy. I have done that and has worked everytime.

                        that isn't the intentions...

what I want to do is to create a disk that will play on my 3d setup as well as my 2d setup in another room.

dvdfab says its supposed to be able to do this but so far I haven't been successful

actually nowadays, almost all movies that are in 3d comes in a box that contain 2d only, 3d only and a dvd of the same movie. its is rare now to have inside a combo 2d/3d disk. those that are 2d/3d will play in both my 2d and 3d display.

ive tried to press every button available and besides the ok button and the play button which does nothing...all the other buttons says function not available.

you are correct, I do want to use to same disk to play in another room that only has a 2d setup. this way I can eliminate one burn.

Did you try some other Fab made 3d disk's to see if it was only this 1 disk that you couldn't play in a 2d player?

If it's your player then you could use the 2d disk that comes with the set to play in the 2d player this way their would be no second burn.

My Panasonic 2d blu ray player Dmp-bd75 is a player that can be brought used on amazon between $30-$40 dollars for a second room this may be a good solution for you.
