Pause Task Queue Does Not

I have 8 tasks queued up (main movie copy off network file server to ISOs in local folder). After 3 ISO had completed, I hit pause with the intent of burning those three before creating ISO for the rest. Appeared to stop BUT then noticed that it is still gathering files to build the ISO.

What is the point of PAUSE if in fact it does not?

Longer I ponder this the more I see that its pausing at the safest point in the process. May not be the immediate point it is invoked (clicked) but the next logical point. It finished the file copy and is now (paused) poised to continue and write the ISO.
