3D Copy SBS vs 3D Copy disc

I am wondering if there is any difference in quality between these 2 DVDFAB options.
I only output as iso's and not burn to disc.

If I choose SBS 3d encode in dvdfab it takes 2-3 hours with cpu running flat out.
If I choose COPY 3d disc it takes 40minutes

I would like to know if there is any difference in quality ie resolution between the 2 methods
    thanks for any help

3d copy full 3d resolution is 1080p in each eye if unletterboxed.Side by side is 1080 in 1 eye and less in the other depending on if its a letterboxed movie how much less is variable sometimes half resolution or less.Your brain puts both together and it looks hi def. to most people.

If you make it uncompressed it can look great on a 60 inch plasma. You can reduce these down to a regular dvd 2 layer and still look good single layer disks push it but their not as good as full 3d uncompressed. You should do some both ways to see what works for you and your size screen. The 3d effects stay the same and side by side can be played with most newer regular dvd players and computer dvd drives if made to single or or 2 layer dvds no need for a 3d player but your tv must do 3d and most do side by side.

Full 3d blurays can be reduced to 25 gig disks and still look great and if unletterboxed still be in 1080p in both eyes.

      Thanks Glenns
I have a 55" led tv 3d and now looking to update my projector to 3D.
The screen is 120" at the moment so after best the resolution.
So I take it the best way to rip for me then is FULL 3D COPY.

Thankyou very much for your help

Yes I have a 110 screen also and that calls for full 3d 1080p as theirs more light output and better resolution than side by side. You can compress 50 gig full 3d disks to 25 gigs that takes awhile but the picture is still full 3d 1080p so try both uncompressed full 3d same as whats on the disk then compress one to 25 gigs and see if they look the same to you.Their very good 1080p but compressed.

When going shopping for a new 3d projector for you very large screen consider light output of the projector as very important for 3d.

3D will look much better with high light output and your going to need it with a 120 inch screen.

The uncompressed 3d movies are best but take up a lot of hard drive room thus a lot of people make compressed 25 gig full 3d copys that are really about 22.5 gigs each saving a lot of space.

If hard drive space is a non issue stick with uncompressed as 4t hard drives are cheap today. You welcome for the help that's what i like to do.Can't wait for 4K 3d coming down the road.

HDD space isnt a problem as using 3tb and 4tb drives now.
I did some reading about projectors and it is as you say about getting a bright one
I have a mitsi which isnt very old and has an excellent picture.
I will want in a projector
              1- DLP
2- high brightness hopefully kicks up the brightness in 3D mode automatically like some tv's do.
3-no loss in quality in 2D to what I already have
              4- long life bulb
              5- name brand projector
I picked up the 3d tv to test 3d and decide wether to get a 3d projector

With you help I now have the knowledge to rip and try 3d and will start researching projectors--for me this will take a few months to do
once again thankyou for your help and very much appreciated.I have been trying for quite awhile to find the info you have told me.Lucky I came here and found someone to help

Very few company's make DLP projectors any more my 1st projector had that it was very sharp.Second & Third projector's had inky blacks Sony and JVC with contrast making the picture so good regular tv had depth and 3d likeness.

Your best bet is to use the projector you have for regular movies and get one good and bright for 3d movies very few can do both right theirs always compromises when using a very bright projector for regular movies the contrast black level shadow detail and color all change when the brightness kicks up to what you really need for 3d.

Most don't go above 110 inch for screen size also because of brightness issues. Some use high gain screens if you go that route their can be hot spots on the screen so you have to be careful with any step.I will get one when there's a 4k model that at least up converts regular 3d to 4k as it will be a long time before 4k films are low enough in price to collect.4K will have better light output for both 2d and 3d.I saw demos of 4k upconverted and real 4k.Upconverted looks great but real 4k is so real you can't stop watching the demo.

I might have to go the same route as you.It makes sense.
Do you then need a 4k media player then as well.
I know up converting 1080p to 4k would be a good way to start.
Does the up converted 1080p to 4k look noticeable better.
I was hoping a very bright projector might have a low/econo mode that might serve for normal viewing like the mitsi I have.
I read that in 3d you loose 40% brightness in projectors--this would have to be factored in.
My screen is a dalite 1.1 so no worry for hots spots
My room is a dedicated room so ambient light isnt a problem
                  thanks

The unconverted movie snips and regular test stuff looked great but like everything else crap in crap out so a good looking 2d movie will look great unconverted to 4k but soft pictures don't look so great. If the upconvert is not done well than you won't see all that much difference except on big screens that's what 4k does well and more light output. The real 4k uses color that's out of this world and once you see it you can't leave the demo place.

Get the easy chair out and a cold drink and tell the wife see ya I will be here till the store or demo place closes its that good.Just like hi def 4k will be set up at best buy and other stores so you will see it.Don't bring the credit card when you do see it so many times I took it out of my pocket because i wanted to take the demo home with me thoughts about renting it went through my head buying the demo getting one from the factory rep.etc.

If your projector does the up converting then your media player won't need to do it but it couldn't play full 4k stuff but the hard drives will be able to hold them and maybe the projector can down convert them but your going to have to do good research on this.

3d unconverted is down the road yet from my understanding though i am behind in my Mag. reading with summer here and outside stuff to do.We also got to see what connectors their going to use to see if hdmi will be able to handle 4k.I have more research to do on this and will spend all winter with researching and seeing whats coming up.I won't rush this as prices come way down a year later.

Also they were using a special screen I forgot what the gain was but the projector was very expensive.Their are cheaper ones now that up convert only and won't play native 4k.It will be awhile before most people can afford the projectors that play native 4k.

Also their are special screens for 3d movies silver in color mine is the same brand as yours with the gray tint and same 1.1 rating.Don't forget some company's will use the circular polorised method of 3d like a lot of movie theaters using much cheaper 3d glasses and they let more light through. Then others are working on no glasses 3d so theirs much more research to do on this.

Most projectors have the econo mode mine has that and also has the lens that opens and closes for more contrast when needed. The difference between the brighter lamp mode and dimmer is very little you can see so your projector needs a powerful lamp as well designed to get the most light output for 3d.Each company has a different take on how to do this. Some much better than others.

Your having such a large screen means you need a projector that can throw a lot of light out.Read all the reviews on line at projector central and check out all the video mags. online to see whats out their and remember list price is not street price however when brand new it's hard to get much discount.
It may be better to wait this out you know this hobby is the most expensive one waiting pays off in this hobby.

I am happy with just the tv doing 3d at the moment and will like you be doing lots of research. It will be quite awhile before we know where 4k is going.
I appreciate all you have said and taken it in.
I only 2 weeks ago bought a spare lamp for the mitsi and will follow keenly what is happening with 4k 3d projectors
In my movie room I have professional speakers the same as in good quality cinemas and its a bugga not having 3d running in that room yet.
Its a great hobby but expensive and have slowed abit on upgrading
                      thanks for your input too
Going to be ripping some bluray 3D's this week and start a collection for when I get the new projector
