blu ray copy wrong audio streams

am having trouble with blu ray copy not using the audio stream that
i have selected. this has happened on a few blu rays. the latest is star trek into darkness. here is what i am doing

from the audio dropdown i select only english ac3-trueHD/7.1 (see pic1)
i save to a doc folder ( i have also tried to save to iso).

after the conversion is done i have been checking it with mkv. it shows the wrong audio track in this case its dd 3/2+1 which is not what i selected. the ac3-trueHD box is unchecked. (pic2)

playing this just gives directors comments track.

anyone tell me what i am doing wrong?

The title shows a 30 min play time so this can't be the main movie. If your trying to copy another part of the disk such as the making of the movie or some extra on the disk it won't have 7.1 sound.Normally it has ac-3 dolby digital or pcm sound and maybe a directors commentary track.

If Fab is picking this as the main movie then you check the run time of the other files on the disk and choice the longest run time and try that.If your copying a extra on the disk the sound won't be 7.1.

for testing i just selected the 1st 3 chapters. a complete dump of all 17 chapters for star trek takes about 9 hrs. i have 2 dumps of the full disc which shows the exact same thing.

Go into Fab settings, conversion, convert their you should see a check box that says always remove HD audio.Make sure that's unchecked.

Also I believe when coping to full disk their may also be a check box to remove HD audio so make sure that box is unchecked also.I have seen some settings in Fab not getting remembered so give them a quick check to make sure ok.

I did a test same as yours except i used the latest die hard movie. I did one chapter no compression and the 7.1 sound was their.
My soundtrack was dts master 7.1 not Dolby true 7.1 so this can make a difference. I should have this disk Monday or Tuesday 16th or 17th so I will try it then.

After you save the ripped store brought disk to hard drive you should play this on a software player on the computer to see if it has 7.1 sound so we know if the problem is with the rip to hard drive or the MKV conversion. You should always put up the internal log file from fabs log files when something goes wrong so we can see what steps you took.Just cut and past it into a post the bottom of the list is the newest movie done.If you didn't use Fab to make the MKV then we can't help you.

Did you make the MKV with Fab? If so we need the internal log file.
Can you play the full disk, main movie or iso that you made from the store brought disk in a software player and does it have 7.1 sound?

no i used the makemkv program to make image

this is what i did for trek and most of my disc's

rip to iso image on hd folder no compression all audio and cc tracks with fab

run mkv 1.84 to create mkv file from above.
i have a samsung smarttv and a nas drive , and a video app i have written to watch movies with. all is good to this point. i have proper sound and pic.

as trek is to large to fit on a bd25 without compression. i launch fab again and use the iso image on folder that i made from above. i remove all cc and select
only select the trueHD 7.1 option and burn away to iso folder on drive.... 8 hrs later i place in blue ray machine and have only directors comment and ac3 track for audio even though i selected only 7.1

try #5 same as above but only took off the cc and left both audio tracks on. it plays ok!

this looks to be a problem with fab and 7.1 audio. i can't see it being me.

looks like if you select only 7.1 audio you get only directors comments.
i can confirm the same problem with Oblivion

Try this take store brought disk make 50 gig iso of Startrek with Fab then put iso back in Fab make 25 gig iso folder main movie this will be compressed take out the other ac-3 sound and cc's you don't want. When done check to see if 25 gig iso has 7.1 sound if not then you must post the internal Fab log file for the disk if you want help.

Just cut and paste the Startrek internal log for doing the above it will be listed as the last one in the list as all your work in Fab is recorded in the internal log.If you burn this to disk then include the burn log also in Fabs files.Do not use another program.

We can't help you with another MKV program if that's making the soundtrack wrong.Only Fab products have support here when you can please read the forum rules.

I got the 3d version today made a 50 gig iso to hard drive the 7.1 sound is with it so Fab made the 50 gig iso ok.Then i took one chapter from main movie no compression as you did on a test chapter again no problem the 7.1 sound was their.

Now overnight I will do a side by side with compression and only keep the 7.1 sound so tomorrow i will see if compression makes a difference.

After that if your still having trouble with Fab then I will compress main movie it to 25 gig with the blu ray copy program.

What region Star trek disk are you using and where did you buy it? Is it 3d or not? Post the internal log file this time if you don't have 7.1 sound.

You do this by going to documents-Fab9-logs-internal log, open it then go down the list the one at the bottom of list is the most recent log.Cut and paste or attach just the log for the latest try of star trek into a post here on the forum then we can see why your not getting 7.1 sound. If your getting 7.1 sound for the 50 gig iso then don't post.

After you do the 25 gig main movie if it has 7.1 sound then you know it's not Fab if you don't get 7.1 sound then post the internal log and we will see whats going on.

I did i % of a 25 gig main movie compressed of Startrek into the darkness it still had the 7.1 sound so there's no problem with Fab as far as the 3d version.

If you still have problems you must put up the internal log file.I did all I can without it.Most won't even help you without it so you know when you have trouble in the future to post the internal log file for the problem disk otherwise it's a game of 20 questions that most here won't play.
