No sound on mac or ipad from ripped blu-rays

All the movies ripped in the last number of months don't play sound on my mac or ipad. I rip them on a windows 8 machine and the audi is fine playing back using media center. I rip to aac, 48,000, stereo, 160K.

I wrote for support and was advised to try vlc player because not all players support aac encoding. This did work. This allows me to view movies on my mac laptop, but not the ipad. I can't use itunes or quicktime to play these movies.

All of the ipad profiles seem to use aac...how can I rip blu-rays so that I can use them on the ipad? why did this work last year (DVDFAB8?), but not now (DVDFAB9)? I'm not sure if this became an issue with my upgrade to DVDFAB9 or if it happened sometime after I upgraded.

Try a couple chapters with the ipad4 profile and see if that works. I use it and the AAC audio plays in iTunes and the iPad. I know nothing of mac?
