How to Restart DVDFab Blu-ray after disk error/

I have had a few disk errors during the burn step. My only choice with DVDFab is retry or cancel. If I cancel I have to rip the Blu-ray again. This is a loss of time and CPU cycles on my SSD. Why is there not an option to burn again (after a burn failure) instead of re-ripping. I already have the image. As a matter of fact I get a warning message that I am about to overwrite it when I restart. What other choice do I have?

There are a couple ways to go at this, first and best way in my opinion is to rip the movie to the HDD and burn it from ImgBurn. It will be on the HDD until you get a good burn.

Second is to uncheck the box (see attachment) and you can burn it from the temp directory. This way you'll have to remember to delete them or you'll eat your HDD pretty quickly.

If I were you I would be more concerned what caused the burn error's and what type they are.

If you used a cheap blank disk that your burner doesn't want to burn to like so many people have trouble with Ritec or company's that rebrand their disks like Memorex that are really made by Ritec.

This is why you should always post a internal and burn log (cut and paste) for the disk you have trouble with to a post here.
See the link in the bottom of the post on how to post these logs.

If one burner see's error's theirs a good chance other's will also. The log will show us burning speed also. Many people burn way to fast burn at 1/2 the disks rated speed.

The internal logs tell us a lot also such as if their were any read error's when you put the disk on the hard drive as they will also cause burn error's.

The log will tell us you firmware version that your burner is using many people don't know that company's make new firmware for their drives so more different brands of disks sometimes will be supported with the update as well as other improvements to the burner.

These are just a few things log files tell us.

        Interesting.
More that half of my errors are because when it goes to the burn phase a
window pops up that asks the burn speed. It shows 2x with a check box if I want to keep this as the default. 2X is what I want so I check it. Next time I get to the burn stage it pops up again as if I did not select it as the default. I check it again. Here is the rub. If I get to the burn stage and pop the DB-R in the drive, while I am waiting of the disk to be recognized, if I get distraced (like a phone call) I miss the pop up. It starts to burn and gets up to about 7X and disk error. I have lost quite a few this way.
As to the quality of the disks. It the expensive JVCs that I have the most problems with. Today when I poped the disk in, I responded to the pop up. The JVC disk started to initalize, then write error on the open. I look at the log, it indicated to target disk did not have enough space. I look at it under windows, 0 bytes available. Another coaster.

If you want help you must post the burn log file and the internal file everything else is just a guess.

We can see things in the log you won't understand so please post them so we can see why the file is to big to burn it may be a simple setting or can be a bug in the program that needs fixing. We already know if your using blu ray to dvd that theirs a file to big to fit disk problem that needs fixing.2x burn speed may not be a available disk speed for your brand of disks and player.Again log files tell us.

sealion, go into common settings and go here, set the burn speed and you will not need to attend so closely it will burn at the speed you select. See attached: Click OK when finished selecting the burn speed.

              90312,

              Thanks for your kind updates.

I do have the default set for 2X, However I still get the popup window.
If I do not respond to it, it acts like I want the 'Fastest'.

As far as the temp file goes. I have it. It does not delete if I cancel.
But DVDFab Blu-ray Copy does not let me select it to burn. I have to start from the source DVD and rip it again. I think DVDFab should let me select this file as input, since DVDFab created it and would use it if I wanted a 2nd copy.

              glenns,

              Thanks for time.

here are the logs you requested.
              Hope they help.
I have burned many BD-R disks with my drive without issue.
I mainly have a problem with these JVC 'Professional' grade disks.
The cheeper TDK and Memorex don't give me as many problems.
However having to restart DVDFab and lose the time and ware on my SSD is more frustrating.

Ok lets start here your blu ray drives firmware is 2 versions out of date your using the 1.04 firmware and should be using 2.03 firmware.
                  Please update here..
New Firmware often lets you use different brands of disks, fixes bugs and makes minor improvements making blu ray disks play better as keys are updated etc.

Second the logs you sent were from different disks so I can't tell everything so you can delete the internal log files logs and the Fab burn file logs and start over so only one disk is done at a time.

Post the logs for the disk you have trouble with and both logs sent for each disk they are dated and name labeled.
Here's what I did get out of the 3 different logs you posted.

Wolverine compressed to 25 gigs and went fine.
Jobs movie burned to disk ok.
The host reported a oversize problem this means the data was to big for the disk you used so you changed Fab settings to the burner or Fab compressed the disk to large or the disk in the drive was to small for the file.I need the internal log for this movie to tell what's going on here.

On your disks burn speed use 1/2 disks rated speed so if their 8x disks burn at 4x speed.
Are you using Fab to burn the disks is this where the pop ups come from as I never seen this happen before using the Fab burner.?

Yes I am using the Fab burner.
Since I have only one BR DVD R/W as soon as the rip finishes on the disk copy I am notified to insert the target disk. As soon as the disk is recognized the pop up asks for the burn speed. As soon as I reply to the pop up or it times out DVDFab starts the burn.

I will try the driver and let you know of the results.

                    Thanks

Well, I tried to update the driver and this is the error I got.

                      No match drive detected!
This utility is only for Optiarc BD RW BD-5300S drives.

                      Detected drives:
                      1-1-0-0 E:HL-DT-STDVD+-RW GH50N B104
                      2-0-0-0 H:WD Virtual CD 1111 2018
                      2-2-0-0 F:Optiarc BD RW BD-5300S 1.04

funny it detects it but say I don't have it.

I was able to update to version 1.06 which has the same date of release as the 2.03. I guess you have to be a version 2 to update to a 2.03.

The new firmware is a full year newer than what you were using.

Sometimes they have different firmware for the same drive one for OME drives and the other for non OEM drives.

The firmware search resulted in a exact match for your drive.

                            There are two models of the BD-5300S, as you can see here;

I would create an ISO first, mount that and make sure it plays okay.

I would also use ImgBurn to burn the ISO. ImgBurn also has a test mode you can use first to see what happens.
