5 hours to rip main movie ?

With 6.2.1.8 mr fristtime riping main movie only 37GB to fit to a 25GB BD-R
was 5 hours plus.I have ripped main movie before without compression
and it did not take that long, only about 35-45min.What is the average
    time to compress 37GB to 25GB ?

    Thanks

    That time sounds pretty good...

I have a quad core processor and it takes a few hours at the very least to compress. Its normal.

I have a slightly faster CPU than your system and the last transcode took 4.5 hours.

My machine does it in about 1 hour to 1.5 hours. I have a pretty fast machine though.

I agree with BJ here. I just did a rip of Main Movie only. Task 1 took 18 min and task 2 took 39 min. It ended up only a 16gb Main Movie and it did play ok on PC and my BR player. (so 24gb might extrapolate to time out at 1.5 hrs.) I have write speed set at 1x and recorded on Memorex 4x BD-R at 1x (1x because it was Memorex and that's all I have right now). So it seems processor is more important than set write speed for quicker burns.
            BTW, I have i7-975 quad-core/8threads 3.33ghz processor with 12gb internal memory.

I think you guys are confusing the following:

1/ Ripping/burning a movie that requires no recompression

              and

2/ ripping/transcoding/burning a movie that is too big to fit on a 25Gb BD.

Method 1 should take a lot less than an hour. (Typically it takes me about 40min), but method 2 can take many hours.

Good point. I'll watch the times on the next one I do that needs compression to BR25.

I was not confusing the two. I can rip a BD that is greater than 25gb , compress to BD25 and burn in a little over an hour. BD5 of course takes longer. I compressed District 9 which was 38GB to BD5 recently in under 3 hours including the burn So yes , any job requiring compression will be at the mercy of your CPU.

                    better rip time.

just put together a system with spare parts from friends .burnner LG $150.
compressed 37GB to 25GB just over 3hours a lot better than my stock HP.

1.5 Hours is about the average for a Quad Core Processor.

                      Specs

64 Bit Win 7 Home Ultimate

Agreed, similar setup here, just 4GB Ram and Win 7 32-bit. Intel Quad Extreme 3.0 @ 3.7. Wanted to upgrade to 64-bit, but did not want to do a clean install. Kudos to Microsoft, first time ever an "upgrade" (Vista to 7) was painless and did not force me to wipe the system clean.

Funny thing is I have this powerful system with SLI'd Geforce cards and I never really got a chance to experience the benefits until now. I am not a gamer anymore.

I have a dual core 3 ghz. intel with 4gb ram running windows xp. Not a fast machine by any means. This is all it's used for now. Transcoding a 28gb movie only to BD25 takes 4 hrs. Ripping takes under an hour, and burning under an hour.
For rip and burn of movie only that needs no transcoding to BD25 takes under 2 hrs.
I could have upgraded to better more expensive gear, but it's ok chugging along in another room.
