Speeds of less than minutes to re-encode to 25GB size is unreal.

    An update to my situation:

Somewhere here I read that GPU lightning shrink should not be used, instead using software re-encoding. Do not remember the reason why.

I turned GPU lightning shrink back on and the time was around 4 hrs. That is what it had been typically.

This week I put in a GTX 650 Ti with 768 cores and now it is done between 1 hr and 1.5 hrs. For me on this 4 core box, it is much better, and usable.

I don't know about you but I think 18;23 to convert a Bluray is fast, it takes 10 to 12 minutes to do a DVD9 to a DVD5.

Did you mean Ready Boost or Turbo Boost?

One other thing, I have Intel's Ready Boost installed, not to be confused with Microsoft Readyboost, it allows the CPU to overclock when tasks and temperature permit. I never multitask while doing movies.

I just did main movie of Van Helsing BR:

The 4770K should be a little faster than our 3770K's maybe two or three minutes shaved off.

my 3570k with gtx 660TI can do 20 min all setting cuda.

Anyway I compressed to 25GB "Main Movie" from the full rip in 20 minutes, I can't remember it being much if any faster than that from the HDD folder.
20 minutes that fast what's the specs of your system?

Thanks for the help, I'll take your advice. I tried the "Full Disk" function to a 50GB disc and it worked flawlessly; but, not the "main Movie" compression to a 25GB disc. A great form, thanks once again.
