DVDFab v8.2.2.9 (Win) - Weird errors

I had to rebuild my XP box, due to issues. So, I decided to go from XP 32 bit to XP 64 bit.

The issues I am about to describe are with the Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (extended edition). It is the first source since getting the system back up.

V9 had no issue doing a 1:1 copy of Disc 1. But, doing 50->25 was another matter. V9 hung after doing the first M2TS file. While I could do a cancel, I then had to use the task manager to kill V9. V8 got through more M2TS files before it failed gracefully.

[See the next post for the V9 log. Both logs make the posting too long.]

The V9 log doesn't show that it actually output at least one M2TS file before hanging.

Out of desperation, I decided to try doing a 50->25 conversion by directly reading the disc as the source. V9 did not fail. V8 and V9 did not like reading from the HDD, but V9 would read the media.

Then it came time to do the 2nd disc. Both V8 and V9 would not finish analyzing the media. Both failed. So, to make sure the media wasn't damaged (I saw no physical issues), I used ImgBurn to create an ISO. V9 had no issue using the ISO as a source for doing a 50->25 copy.

I never had these kinds of issues with XP 32 bit. What gives with working under XP 64 bit? Might not be the reason, but it is the only difference.

      An update:

I was able to do a 50->25 copy of Downton Abbey S5 D2 without any issues.

But, trying to do a 50->25 of the replacement disc for ST:TNG S1 D4 resulted in V8 and V9 doing the same thing as what happened in the first post.

To make sure that it isn't related to XP x64, I installed V9 on my XP x86 box and it did the exactsame thing... output the first M2TS file and then hung.

So, I created an ISO file and V9 is happily working with it.

The Downton Abbey disc, mentioned above, has been the only disc where I have been able to do a 50->25 conversion by using the files on the HDD. All other discs, and there have been at least five since then, will only convert if I use an ISO file.

At this point I've given up on using HDD files.

Correct. Trying to do any 50 GB media to 25 GB media by using files in a folder, i.e., 50 GB disc copy to HDD files, no longer works when trying to take those files and reduce to 25 GB.

If the 50 GB folder is used as a source for ImgBurn to create an ISO, then using it to go to 25 GB will work just fine. The disc media can be used directly to go to 25 GB, or the disc media is used to create and ISO, it too works when going to 25 GB.

As I've posted, I no longer take the 50 GB source and extract it to an HDD folder. I do not want to waste time trying to reduce to 25 GB, only to have DVDFab hang.

            Yes.

            Does disc has no issue?
How so? Playing in a standalone Blu-ray player, or used as a source by DVDFab?
Either way, the discs have no issues. As I mentioned, ImgBurn has no issue creating an ISO file from the original media. Plays just fine in the Blu-ray player.

I thought development of V8 was done.

I've downloaded it and will install it soon. I seriously doubt that it will work any different than 8.2.2.9 in regards to this issue. But, we'll see.
