asking quad cpu experienced

1st realize every back-up copy I do is set to slow for highest quality-

I'm offered a free working , socket 775, CORE 2 Duo/Quad, Core 2 Quad 9550. It is to swap out my Core 2 Duo e8400 build to Core2Quad 9550.

My last build was a i7-950 build. can I expect equal performance, slow burn, upgrading old e8400 build PC to 9550.
