    BD-R Full or Write Protected

I'm a blu-ray newbie, so pardon my ignorance. Upon my first attempt to burn to a BD-R disc (fresh out of the package), it gives the following message:

Media inserted in Drive E is not writable. Please insert a blank or reusable media to start the write process.

When trying to re-format through windows explorer, it says that the disc is write protected.

    Computer Specs:
    HP Pavilion dv7
AMD Turion II Ultra Dual-core Mobile M600 2.4 GHz
    RAM: 4.00 GB
    Windows 7 64-bit

As far as I can tell the drive you have is not a Blu-ray writer.

I think this is in a lappy also? If so it's best to get an external drive.

It seem others are having issues with this particular drive.

If you are running virtual CD programs, three come to mind immediately, you will need to turn off the emulation option "Hide Media Type". If you don't do this, your disc will always appear as a ROM. I sheepishly admit to throwing away several DVD+RWs before figuring this one out. It may not be your problem, but it's a good place to start.
