    Compressing movie from ripped bluray

I occasionally have success directly compressing a bluray movie and burning it on a dual-layer dvd using DVDFab which I then am able to play on my bluray player, but more likely I will get an error during the compression, so I would rather rip the full bluray disk and then compress the movie that is on the harddrive. DVDFab seems to have the capability of doing this, but when I go to the folder that contains the movie, BMDV/STREAM, the list of .m2ts files does not show up so I can select the movie file. Is this not possible or am I doing something wrong?

This is possible, it is the method I use all the time. First you nedd to dedicate a folder. I use my videos folder that is preinstalled with windows. If you rip main movie only be careful to select proper video stream. DVDFab doesn't always default to the right one, this could explain why you were missing the .m2ts. when compressing to burn in the source box migrate to your folder containing the BDMV and certificate folders usually the title of the movie. You select the title folder as source. Select you compression ie. BD25,BDDVD9 and start compression.

I guess I don't fully understand. I have ripped the full bluray disk and confirmed that all of the .m2ts files exist in the BDMV/STREAM folder It's just that DVDFab does not display the files, when I go to the BDMV/STREAM folder from within DVDFab, so I can select and compress the movie file. I would think they would show up the same as they do from the bluray disk.

Select main movie mode in DVDFab since it will not compress the full movie with all tracks and menus. When selecting source folder make sure you select the folder containing both the BDMV and certificate folders since they are both needed for proper playback.

I do this. I select the folder, A Knight's Tale, that contains the BDMV and CERTIFICATE folders, I have selected Main Movie in DVDFAb. A screen comes up to choose the region code (A is selected), which I do, but then nothing shows up under Source as it does when I do regular DVDs.

So you are saying that you don't get video streams on the left and audio on the right? Is this an expired trial or paid version?

Try closing and reopening DVDFab. then start select source then main movie.

I purchased it several days ago when the trial version expired. No, the streams do not show up, obviously because there is nothing showing up as the Source.

Are there any files in the directory on your hard drive. Maybe a bad rip

All of the .m2ts files show up and I am able to play the movie using Media Player Classic.

Apparently this is peculiar to "A Knight's Tale" since I am able to access another movie I had ripped, but it is 1080i (interlaced) and thus cannot be compressed by DVDFab.

This is strange maybe try ripping A Knights Tale in main movie mode and see if it makes a difference.
