functional difference between blu-ray copy and passkey (for copying purposes)

I know that passkey operates as a filter driver which makes it different than the blu-ray copy functionality, but I'm wondering if there's any functional difference in the rip to image/rip to disk functionality vs. blu-ray copy. i.e. all I do is backup my discs in a 1:1 manner so that they can be played on my Dunes.

    Passkey "rip" functionality

I have been using Passkey to rip an occasional blu-ray to my hard disc in "rip to hard disc" mode (ie. resulting in files/folders) for quite some time with no problems except for the occasional title DVDFab has not been updated for yet. I am still relying on my free "lifetime" version 8 for this purpose successfully. I have not sprung for version 9 yet.
I am a lifetime licensed user of DVDFab for DVD and generally use that for the occasional DVD I need to rip to hard disc, also with few issues except as noted above.
I have read some comments in the past where DVDFab was able to handle a particular DVD that Passkey failed on, but it seems to me this was a temporary thing until Fengtao updated Passkey.

They are functionally very different. Passkey will not compress to BD-25, strip away menus and extras as well as other nifty things.
How to post the internal log

True - I thought the op was interested only in straight ripping capabilities and process based on his "backup my discs in a 1:1 manner" comment. If he wants to also massage the disc in some fashion (converting, compressing, selecting specific titles, etc.) then he needs more tools than a straight decryptor/ripper like Passkey.

          Correct, I'm interested in 1:1.
