Bluray to DVD Conversion

I am having a problem copying the 7.1 sound from a bluray to a dvd in a bluray to dvd conversion. I only get the surround channels in playback. I also copied a bluray to "main movie" bluray without any issues. What am I doing wrong or is this problem with DVDFAB? Thank you.

Technically, I do not believe that DTS is valid on a DVD either. Doesn't mean that a Blu-ray/DVD player won't play the disc. An older DVD only player might not.

Mr video:I have DTS Cd's and even they will play on a plain old CD player with digital output to a receiver with DTS decoder and play fine in DTS 5.1 surround sound.Their are many music DTS Cds.

So DTS on a old dvd player is no different if the digital out goes to a digital input on a receiver with DTS decoder built in.1s & 0's are 1's & 0's in a digital format cd's,dvd's,blu rays,4k,8k etc.The playback device must have digital outputs that's it.The receiver can do the decoding.

You can put HD audio on DVD in Blu-Ray format you'd just have to play the disc in a BR player.

I'm saying if the object is putting the BR on a DVD just select it from the drop down menu. It will be copied in BR format on a DVD and HD audio can be copied. The DVD will be a BR disc and must be played in a BR player. Oh and you'll want to uncheck the "remove HD audio" box.

The Op was asking if it could be done in BD to dvd modual being I don't have that modual I can't test it for him can you with a 7.1 soundtrack?

Doing so both ways is using a whole lot of compression and may not look so good so I wouldn't recommend it.

Update:I reread his post and he doesn't say if he was using the bluray to dvd modual or your way so unless he says skip it should of asked for a log file first my mistake.

In my estimation using the copy module to copy a Blu-Ray to a DVD-9 looks better than a DVD. But I just copy the 5.1 audio and save that room for video. Just one opinion.

True. But getting the audio, other than LPCM or AC3, on the DVD depends on the authoring program. If it follows the DVD-video specification, it will refuse the audio if it is not LPCM or AC3.

If the OP is trying to create a true DVD-video, then IMHO, DVDFab should only place AC3 audio on it, i.e., follow the specification. Why anyone would want to reduce the video quality is beyond me.

If trying to create a DVD-9 that is BD authored, then 7.1 should be able to be placed in the output. But, due to the size, it would leave less for the video. IMHO, since BD-25 media is so cheap these days, creating DVD-9 discs, resulting in crappier video, is just plain silly. Not only that, there are Blu-ray players that won't even play DVD-9 BD formatted discs. Mine won't, I tried it. It only wants BD formatted discs on BD media.

MR VIDEO:Please use the internet and search DTS cds and enlighten yourself of DTS cds they have been out a really long time now almost as long as DTS has.

We are talking about how to do this with Fab it can be done with the regular Fab program I already said I don't recommend putting 7.1 sound on a 8.5 gig disk with a blu ray compressed down to 8.5 gig size.

Using the blu ray to dvd modual will comply with dvd's spec's and their for will have it's limits on what soundtracks will be used we don't know the way the OP has attempted this conversion so really I should of asked for his log file to see what he attempted my error.
