All Version 7's are much slower for me?

Yesterday i backed up lakeview terrace BR,i started off with 7.0.1.2 but was getting at best 1.25mb/s and it was sayin it was gonna take 4+ hours with no compression needed WTF?

Then i cancelled it, loaded up 6.2.1.8 and what do ya know 6.85mb/s and took 1 hour.So far this has been the same with every V7 i have used.

I'm guessin it must be the GPU acceleration? which btw i cant use apparently because i have a useless Mobile Intel 4 Series Express graphics card and fab wont let me turn anything on?

Any idea's dont wanna keep using V6

You only backed up or also compressed?

no just backed up - was around 22.5gb, in V6 it said no compression needed, yet in 7 did not say this?

I think the devs have taken some of the load off the CPU, mine only runs at about 60-70 percent but my times have improved. I think they improved the GPU acelleration(encode and decode). It would be cool if you could set a priority for Fab. Full system utilization or partial so you can still do other tasks. All around it works pretty good but it would still be cool to shave off more time.

I too am noticing V7 is slower than V6. Right now running V7 tests on BD9's, since V6 versions wouldn't play on my LG BD390. Harry Potter 6 is only running at 2.7MB/s and will take 2:45 to compress with my Quad core 9550 with all cores running @ 75-90% with GPU enabled. My nVidia GT240 isn't that high end, but without GPU enabled (software only) I was getting 3.17MB/s. I know V6 was faster. I'll post numbers later after this ones finished.

Yes, it does seem slow. I'll do some benchmark comparisons when I get a chance. I got a different nVidia video card (9800 GT) that is recognized but version 7 of DvdFab does not seem to use it. It's slow such as 1.7 MB/s. Dual Core 3.0 GHz cpu's are maxed out but GPU-Z and nVidia monitors show zero GPU useage. Don't know if I will ever understand this software.

drobo - Never heard of GPU-Z. Thought you meant CPU-Z at first until I did a Google search. Installed it while compressing Harry Potter 6, and GPU Load is running about 63%.

Yes, nice little util. Don't know what's going on here. GPU-Z says 0% on GPU load, Memory controller load, and video engine load. Down to 1.3 MB/s at 37 % completion mark. Strange. 2.6 GB of 6 GB ram being used with CPU's maxed out.

rschildt, BTW-what OS are you using? I'm on Windows 7 64 bit. I still think there may be a compatibility problem here.

Last night I did couples retreat. 30+gig compressed to BDDVD9 @ 1080p took 1:45 compression and burn to disc. My average compression speed was between 6and7 MB/s. I used Ver. 7.0.2.7. and this time the CPU load was between 88% and 96%. I didn't check GPU usage. My specs are in my sig

I'm still on XP Home. Redid the BD9 using the last V6 Beta, and was running @ 3.2MB/s utilizing all four cores @ ~100% w/ GPU load of only ~20%. Noticed V7 used DXVA for decoding and CUDA for encoding, while V6 used only CUDA for me. Still faster in V6, but V7 with no GPU accel was about the same as V6 with it. Hmmmm??

I guess it's still a work in progress. I'm just glad it doesn't take me 12 or more hours like some others have reported.

Sorry for my broken English ...

I also pointed out long ago that I dvdfab 6 and faster than version 7 and do not understand why,
Using seven 64-bit Windows, and version 6 is faster than dvdfab 7, and I think there is too much difference ...

I hope the official release this gap is solved ...

Just backed up borat (uncompressed) using 7.0.2.7 and took an hour with coreAVC enabled, but that is the same time V6 uses without coreAVC enabled ,anyway at least i can now use 7 series.
