1080i (interlaced) compression

I seem to recall a post a long time ago about DvdFab not being able to compress a 1080i (interlaced) blu ray. I was having trouble with this issue in compressing such a disc when I remembered that post. Is this the case? Is there any solution in the works or a work around available to solve this problem.
