DTS audio "lost"

Symptom: no DTS audio after compression to BD25, when played by Panasonic player or using beta-DVDFab 7.0.2.7 previewer ... however, for the same files, audio does play in DVDFab 6.1.2.8 previewer. Very confusing.

Update to version 7030. Is this with all titles? Before burning to a blank disc, rip ro an iso and mount that to Fabs virtual drive and use software that supports BD format.
Make sure your Panny has the latest firmware update also. Post the info requested in the Help Us Help You (link in my sig) and provide all the details and logs so this may get resolved as quickly as possible, thanks.

If you are posting about an operational problem with one of the DVDFab products, you will improve the speed and accuracy of the response by providing some information in the very first post that will probably be needed.

First, make note of any error codes or messages that appear in popup boxes and put them in your post. Information on error codes that appear in the DVDFab UI are captured in one of the logs we request below.

DVDFab keeps logs of its activities that supply basic system information and can help pinpoint where and when an error happened and help pinpoint the cause. The default location for these logs on most Windows systems is:

C:\Documents and Settings\your username\My Documents\DVDFab\Log

The logs are simple text files that can be opened with Windows Notepad if you want to read them. If the size exceeds the forum’s attachment size limit, you may need to delete older entries or copy and paste the relevant ones into a new file. The log files can be attached to a post using the "Manage Attachments" button below the editing box.

dvdfab_burn_vso.log Attach for all problems. The entries are time stamped with the most recent at the top.

dvdfab_burn_imgburn.log Attach if you have ImgBurn set as the burning engine and the problem concerns disc burning. Time stamped with the most recent at the bottom.

dvdfab_process.log Attach if DVDFab crashes and the crash report window does not come up or complete correctly or if internal error codes appear in the DVDFab window (“Task Failed…”). Time stamped, most recent at the bottom.

dvdfab_internal.log Attach for all problems. Time stamped, most recent at the bottom. Please edit to include only the most recent or relevant log session.

Other Information:

Depending on the nature of the problem, it can help to know:
If this happens with all discs or just one
Your operating system/CPU/memory configuration
If you are using external hard drives or optical drives
If you have made any recent changes to your OS or system hardware
If you have other DVD or BD software installed, particularly if recently added.

Perhaps I was not clear enough; there are no logs, no pop-ups, no *anything* to forward as evidence -- only the final result. The compression process was "right." The film in question is "The Music Man" and its DTS audio track plays in the preview window of DVDFab's commercial release but *not* the latest beta (where is 7.0.3.0?), nor in a popular mainstream consumer player with up-to-date firmware.

This bug is a head scratcher; perhaps the beta DVDFab has a "blind spot" in its code regarding the audio track and is being careless with some detail of the format.

I understand, the reason we ask for the info is so the devs can see if there is a problem, it should have created an internal log even if there were no errors. The exact model of your panny would help and the firmware version installed and region code of the title, the more info provided may help to nail it down.
The version 7030 is on the main forum's page near the top, beta releases are there also.

Thank you. Re 7.0.3.0, like a zombie, i kept looking in the beta-release section not thinking to look in the official release section. Suggest a notice added to the beta-area to redirect idiots like me.

The disc i used was North American "The Music Man". Is it enough to know that version 6 would play audio (in preview) and beta 7 would not?

I was lazy and should have just posted a link for you, sorry. It may be enough just to report it but it wouldn't hurt to post the info, I haven't seen anyone else report this issue yet.
It's up to you, could just wait until the next beta is released to see if it solves it.

Something simple to check is make sure the volume slider is up all the way in the preview window, something simple like that is what I would miss LOL.

More evidence: running the streams through tsM***R resolves the problem, though one would expect this is a 1-to-1 copy only it apparently "flips bits" to allow the version 7 previewer play the DTS audio and, more importantly, my Panasonic DMP-BD60 plays it too. A side benefit of this process is to shift the subtitles towards the bottom of the screen, in the unused black band for widescreen video. (Hint: feature request for DVDFab.)

IMHO, my "theory of the crime" clue for this bug is i strip the HD audio from the DTS stream (My set-up can't take advantage of this extra GB of data, so why preserve it?) It seems it is this "stripped" audio stream that version 6 can still play and the tool (above) can resuscitate.
