    Power calibration error

Hi all hoping someone can fix this issue. I have been up all night and its driving me crazy tried so many things. Heres the basics.

    I bought bluray to bluray
    Backed up Zombieland
tried to burn twice to new media (optical quantum)
got 40% doen first burn second burn up to 72% using programs burner.
I downloaded Imgburn and when it tries to write to disc I get Power Calibration, and I/O failure.

    I have an external Matshita BD-MLT UJ210S version 1.05
    I used Optical Quantum 4X BD25
I then tried a Verbatim 4X BD25 with the same error code.
Which is funny because I backed up Batman begins with it and it works fine. I also backed up Surrogate on a Blaze BD-RE 25 without a problem. This was all on the trial version.
    Computer is a HP laptop turion 64 1.79ghz 512mb

Hoping someone can help me. One other questions do you think I would get this error on desktop?

Matshita drives are very poor performers, especially when burning. It's always suggested if using a laptop to use a external burner but stay away from the slimtype's.
The high heat enviroment kills the lappy's internal burner. If determined to use the internal slimtype at least make sure you have a cooler for the lappy.

IMHO you'll have much better chances with a desktop.

do you think plugging the slimmy into the desktop would be better than just plugging it into the laptop? It is external so I dont know what the deal is I got 2 good burns from it.

It won't hurt to try...easy enough to do, but it also probably won't make much difference.
As you said, it is an external drive and it's controlled by a usb controller in either system.
And as already pointed out by W&B, it's a MatSHITa.
Sorry, no personal criticism/insult intended...but it is what it is
Too bad, as I'm sure it wasn't cheap

Who knows? I'd give it a shot.
It's not like it's labor intensive..., but it'll run you $ for another disc

If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

Another classic case of me overlooking the obviously posted info, for some reason it just didn't click, I blame it on a lack of coffee

Also post a burn log from ImgBurn, maybe something will stand out there, or did I overlook that to?

With that power calibration error I would try a lens cleaning disk in the drive if it were mine.

90312 is there a specific blu-ray only lens cleaner or will any do? I'm pretty much strapped for cash atleast to buy a new burner so any help would be greatly appreciated.

I should think any of them will do the job. There are two kinds I've used, one has little flaps of cloth of some kind probably microfiber and the other has little soft brushes. The latter works best in my opinion. They don’t cost much down at your local Wal~Mart.

I'm not sure they make one specifically for BR, shouldn't matter because all it does is wipe off the laser lens. Also be advised that dust on the lens is not the only reason for the laser power not to calibrate, I hope for your sake it is the problem.

90312 thanks again for the information. I'm hoping it does cure but expect a 50/50 chance it will. trying to figure out what to sell to get enough to buy an LG internal for my desktop.

One more question other than heating issues for the calibration what else could it be?
