    DVDFab registration OS instability

I've been using the trial version of DVDFab 6.2.1.8 with no problems, and the opening dialog stated the trial period has expired. So, since I liked the program, I purchased the BluRay to BluRay, and BluRay to Mobile licenses.
I downloaded the latest 7.0.3.0, and with the received activation keys, I activated the programs.
However, now when I launch from the activation screen, the OS becomes unstable, and forces a hard boot. The activation screen shows the program being activated, and registered to me.
Attempted a removal and re-install, but due to the registration not being part of the uninstall, was unable to fully remove them.
Scrubbed the registry for entries, to no avail.
OS is WinXP Pro. Running Dual Xeon, Tyan i7505.
Since the application does not fully launch, the log file is empty.

Currently performing a restore flush of the work station, to ensure all portions of DVDFab is removed.

My question is, what would cause the software to become unstable and the system unusable when purchased, but works fine on the trial versions?

My guess would be that it is not the key installation, but the new version that is the problem. The first thing DVDFab does when it starts is check your drives for a disc. Based on the problems reported by others on this forum, I would bet the DVDFab 7 is accessing the optical drives in a different way than DVDFab 6 did, possibly exercising a part of a driver that had not previously been used.

I'd start by checking for newer versions of drivers related to your optical drives, motherboard, and/or BIOS. Also, make sure you have the latest service pack.

BTW, is there is Blu-Ray disc in the drive when you start DVDFAb?

Did you uninstall 6.2.1.8 prior to install of Fab 7? If so try to reinstall 6.2.1.8 and then reinstall Fab7. Also I always do this for all my programs, instead of clicking run I click save then open the folder and right click and install the programs as administrator and never have had 1 problem with any install. In my own opinion I think it makes a world of difference on the install of programs.
Give it a try and post back.

My guess is the problem stems from the trial expiration.

After the restore from ghost, installed the previously usable version of DVDFab 6.2.1.8, and discovered on the license dialog, the "Never be used" blurb. The crash is the same. Seeing a datestamp error on the access violation screen.

I have attempted to launch with a disk in the drive.

So, how can I use the portions that I pay for, when the other portions cause the program to crash? Do I have to purchase every item for the two that I want to be usable?

Well well well. Guess I best quit my rant.
          *sigh*

OK, it appears there is an issue with the workstation. I installed the 7030 DVDFab on my laptop without putting in the keys, I had the "Never be used", but it opened fine. Activated it, and it launches fine.

Thinking that I may have a hardware issue on the workstation that has reared its head since I used DVDFab on it last.

You could try running CCleaner it's free and does a great job of cleaning and fixing the registry you will find it here
if you run the cleaner make sure to check the old prefetch data under advanced and also run the registry cleaner also then give it another shot, just make sure to run the installer as administrator during install.
            Post back with results, Thanks
