question on sherlock holmes and crank 2

So i downloaded the trial of dvd fab to test out backing up some of my blurays. so far the forum has been great and i like the simplicity of the program. i backed up crank 2 and when i watched it on my samsung 1080p tv the picture is full screen. the same happened with sherlock holmes and i am just wondering if this i normal or if i did something wrong. any help would be great.

Bluray to bluray could have selected the wrong version of the movie it happens or so I have read. I dont mind it going full frame as I dont really care for the letterbox style.

hmm....well after doing some research and looking at 1080p picture quality, i have concluded that a true HD and 1080p movie will fill the screen corner to corner. Hence the extra money you spend to buy and watch these movies. i like the idea. Thus, i have concluded that my backups are true copies of the original and nothing is wrong. when i popped my original crank 2 into the bluray player this morning the picture went from corner to corner as well. so far so good!
