    LTH Verbatim's and DVDfab issues?

OK I decided to get a internal Blu-ray burner which happens to have LTH function (which is great since I messed up and bought some originally). But I have read on newegg.com that DVDfab does have issues with the LTH discs. Now I dont know if the guy was just having hardware or software issues but I would like to know before I dive in and get a 25 spindle of LTH discs that DVDfab doesnt have issues with them. And yes I have the PS3 that does have LTH firmware to play them. TIA

    unknownbluray,
I don't really want to burst your bubble, but how DVDFab would possible have any issues with any discs or burners. DVDFab uses third party burning engines (you can chose any out of three - VSO, ImgBurn or Nero BurningRom). If there are any issues - they are among burning engine, blank media and burner firmware.

Thats what I thought I knew DVDfab uses external burn engines I use imgburn all the time. I know as well that with newer things like the LTH dye etc your gonna have good and bad burns. I didnt take the guys complaints as set in stone I just thought I would ask.

I would just recommend to do a little research. Google ImgBurn, your burner model and media in association with LTH

Yes I would check out ImgBurn forum to see if that burn engine has problems with these blanks since it the burn engine you are using and as like IPopov50 mentioned it the burn engine and not DVDfab

I figured it wasn't DVDfab I dont see how it could be, all it does it opens the disc and takes the encryption out. I have to set that reviewer straight.

I've been using only verbatim LTH BD_R's and have had no compatability issues with my PS3 or my friend's Sammy 1600. Of course I use IMG burn exclusively to burn.

You don't have to go to newegg to set that reviewer straight... I'm right here. I clearly said that the LTH media and my specific use of it was giving me problems. It so happens to be DVDFab was part of that specific use of the media. I clearly stated when using either Image Burn or VSO via DVDFab I had zero successful burns with LTH media & Version 6 of DVDFab. DVD Fab 7 and VSO now gives me a 50% success rate with LTH.

And just to point out the obvious, something changed in either DVDFab7 or VSO because I get some successful burns now. My review was neither an attack on DVDFab, VSO, Image Burn or the media. It was clearly to state that I was not having success with that media and would like to share my experience with others. LTH is known to have compatibility issues so I shared mine.

Because something might work for you does not mean it will work for others and in my case it didn't.

If the reason you are getting LTH is for the price let me make a recommendation:

Vinpower Digital Optical Quantum 25GB 4X BD-R 25 Packs Logo Top Blu-ray Disc Model OQBDR04LT-25 HTL

                $49.99

                VS

                Verbatim 25GB 2X BD-R LTH 20 Packs Spindle Disc 97090

                $39.99

I know at a glace the Vinpower media is $10 more but you get 5 more disks and 4X speeds (BIG DIFFERENCE IN BURN TIME) without the issues of LTH for the same price. I have burn 75 + Blurays with this media and not 1 coaster. Give it a try... buy a single disk for $3 and see if it works for you as well.

i am using dvdfab7 with vso and i am getting about 10% success rate burning using those discs..as soon as i use the expensive normal blue ray disc i am almost 100% successful..so something is not working correctly..

Yeah, a compatability issue between your burner and the LTH blanks is what's not working.

Thats what i was thinking, but prior to this attempt, approx. 5 hours ago, i used the same burner, and disc to copy avatar with no problems...

Right now I'm trying my first LTH and so far it accepted it first time and burning right now. Its at 75% at the time I wrote this I will let everyone know how it goes afterwards.

Burn complete 100% perfect backup of the whole disc. Very happy. However either imgburn or DVDfab detects the LTH as a dual layer.

I'm thinking it's firmware issue. The drive you and I have, unknown, is still pretty new I think. Mine has a Jan 2010 manufacture date and I bought it from Newegg right after they started carrying it. Before that I had been watching the price on the WH08LS20 to drop around $150 and this was added around that price while the WH08LS20 was still around $180. I read in a post on one of the many shopping websites that a search of WH10LS30 brought up that the WH08LS20 did LTH after a firmware update and CDRLabs shows LTH x6 in the specs fo the WH10LS30. Also it says on the LG website that specifications can change without notice which I believe as my drive is suppose to have a 2 MB buffer but Nero InfoTool and another program both say it has a 4 MB buffer.
I'll also vouch for the Optical Quantum discs. ImgBurn reports them as Phillips media.
