    Burn Issues

i am trying to burn using Memorex bd-r 25 and the program does dvdfab does seem to like it. I have Pioneer bd-r 205 burner on Windows Vista machine.

Second question, are most blue-ray disc more than 25 gig

    1. well, memorex is not the most impressive brand...with that said, you make no mention of how youre trying to burn? what methods?

...and im not even sure I understand your question, did you burn and it just does not play in the bluray player? or your burner does not recognize the disc?

    2. Ive found that main movie only can range anywhere from ~16GB - ~35GB typically.

So it really kind of depends on the movie itself...lots of CGI? long run time? etc

Are you asking about blank BD-R's are you talking about the actual Blu-ray movie?

I have seen movies range for 16gb to more than 35gbs. Like crackinhedz said it depends on various factors of, effects, length of film and even special features.

As for blank BD-R's 25gb is the typical and less expensive typically $2.00 to $3.00a disc, while 50gb is around $10.00 a disc. 50gb discs are overkill unless you want the full uncompressed Blu-ray experience. Most members copy to 25gbs, atleast thats what I'm getting from posts.

        My response

I am using the burner that comes with dvdfab. I think it is the VSo Enginge.
What are the best blue-ray discs to use medai brands I maean.

It is either the burner or DVDFab that does not like memorex disc.

So compressing from a BD50 disk to bd25 u don't lose any quality. the program says the quality goes from 100% to 50%???

Does dvdfab have the ability to split a bd50 into 2 bd25 discs

Yes, you can split BD50 in Main Movie option to as many discs as you want by using "Title Start/End Settings". I do not believe, however that at the end of first disc it will prompt you "Insert disc 2" or something like that..

Best are usually verbatim however I have use optical quantum ones 10 for $20.00 ($2.00 a piece) and they work just fine. Also there is compression to BD25 but its not noticable. I have done 32.5gb movies compressed onto 25gb blu-rays (correct spelling) and the havent noticed the difference between the original and the backup. it copiess to 1080p 25 so its still high def.

In addition to unknownbluray's comment, I would suggest you to change burning engine from VSO to ImgBurn, It will save you lot of trouble in a future. Take a look here how to do it:

I agree with IPopov50 change to imgburn dont bother with vso. I havent had a bad burn since switching. And the link he sent is an easy to follow in setting up imgburn with DVDfab.
