I have a question I hope someone can help me with....I've been decrypting some of my blu rays to my hard drive and then compressing them and copying them to a BD-RE to make sure everything works fine....With the price of blu rays I want to make sure the BD-RE works before i copy to a BD-R...A few times the BD-RE's have worked perfectly and I then try to do the same movie on a BD-R..Twice the BD-R copies I've made have failed the verification stage on ImgBurn and won't work..even though the BD-RE's of the same movie work and pass ImgBurn verification..My real question is- Can I use the movie I did on the BD-RE(which seems to work and passes verification) in the clone disc mode???? In other words is the clone disc mode kinda like just copying the BD-RE onto a BD-R??? I know this may sound like a stupid question but I'm never sure with blu rau...thanx...

lebb,
there is nothing stupid in your questions. Yes, you can clone your BD-RE onto BD-R. Would it be a solution - I don't think so. By writing your content onto BD-RE and play it, you sort of verified that your content is in fact playable and in good order. Issue you have is beyond "quality of content" issue, but in burner-media relation issue. As BenieUK mentioned, it could be a need for firmware update, or media you have purchased is not quality enough, or could be simple burning process issue, i.e. burning speed too high.
What I would suggest you to do is (a) google, download and install "VSO Inspector" - a little freeware utility that will help you to determine if your firmware is up to date, state of your burner, inspect your media; (b) check your media and see what recommended burning speed is.
Also, I would recommend to use burning speed that one step down from recommended (i.e. recommended speed 8x, use 6x).
When you get the media info and ID from "VSO Inspector", google it to see somebody's else comments, and as a rule, more negative comments - lesser burning speed

I've had media not pass but still burn correctly and then I had media pass and not burn right. Blu-ray backing up is a crap shoot (pardon my expression) You can get some good and bad discs. My question is what media are you using and what burner are you using. I have an LG the number escapes me right now, and I have used Verbatim BD-R 4X 25gb, Verbatim LTH (Low to High) X4? 25gb, Optical Quantim 1-4X 25gb ($2.00 each), TDK X4 50gb, and I use a Blaze BD-RE X2 25gb, I have not had an issue with these discs with the LG at all.
But I do agree with BenieUK, you may need to upgrade your firmware or like Ipopov50 stated your media (discs) maybe bad quality, and lower your burn speed. I personally havent had an issue with max burning speeds but have read about them.Lancool K-56 case.

My drive is also an LG with the latest firmware....The discs I'm having a problem with are RiData blu rays which have gotten good reviews from what I've read...Maybe there's a couple of bad ones in the bunch?? I always burn with the the slowest speed since I know that hi speeds can cause havoc, even with cd's....Basically I just wanted to know if I can clone a BD-RE that I've made to a BD-R..It seems I can, so I guess it may be bad discs??? If a blank DVD fails it's no big deal- but if a Blu Ray fails it costs a bit more...
