OK, I have this problem every time I play around with the compression function.
I currently have Pirates in the drive.
    1) I select main movie.
    2) common setting I disable GPU.
3)common setting default output size BD 25 1080p.
    4) main page output size also BD 25 1080p.
    5) in main movie window I select play time of 2:23:14 remove all foreign subs.
    6) it now does a scan, upon completion of scan, it shows an output size of 142.093 gig's, now obviously this is not a correct reading so what is my misstep here.
    Any info would be appreciated.

looks the same as my process, sometimes I might rip to HD first but should not make a difference. sorry I don't have that particular title to check. something is strange though that's for sure.

When I pick 2:23:14 it says (31.437 GB -> 20.996 GB). 20.996 is my custom setting.
          When I pick 2:23:15 it says (29.896 GB -> 20.996 GB).
2:23:15 has all of the audio options while 2:23:14 has only English AC-3/5.1.
When I remove all the audio except PCM/5.1 and remove all of the subtitles from 2:23:15 then the compression says (27.107 GB -> 20.996 GB).

            Hi driggle
You will have to bear with me here,
but when I eliminate the AC and add the PCM it actually enlarges the file even more,
and if i am not mistaken (hope someone will correct me if I am) I thought you wanted the AC3/5.1 for true audio output (not real sure what the PCM is any way) but have always used the AC when backing up.
Then you mention custom setting, where do I find those ?
it sounds like you have had success with compression, I know it shouldn't be this difficult, but I always end up with the same result.
work with me a little more on this if you would please I would love to master this.
            Thanks for your response,

PCM is the uncompressed audio. True HD and HD Master audio has pretty well replaced PCM. I prefer the higher bit rate audio to listen to but it does take up more space. I remove everything else to help with the space.

I go to common settings/ DVD Blu-Ray Write/ then pick Writeable Media (BD 25) size and choose customize. I've chosen 21500 as the customize size. When I left it at the default I was getting errors because the compressed size was to big for the disc.
I've seen the compressed size be too big when the wrong title is picked.

OK excellent, I see it now.
I have a disc in the BD burner at the moment, but as soon as that is out, I will play around with it.
                you da man.
                Thanks driggle

P.S. hope you wouldn't mind if I have more questions I give you a shout, all on the forum of course.

I don't mind at all. Hope you can get compression working.
I've been watching the Austin Power movies compressed down to DVD9. I think they look really good. Fengtao and crew have done an excellent job on the compression.

                      Morning driggle,
Is it common for the process to take upwards of 4 hours to complete,
I got it working just fine, just not sure about the time thingy though.
                      thanks

I think it depends on the movie. It usually takes me 3 to 4 hours to copy and burn. I got a new motherboard, processor and ram yesterday and am experimenting to see how much faster it will be than the old setup.

OK, it took me about four hours just to rip, wondering if boosting my ram might speed things up a bit, currently working on 4 gig's DDR1066, wonder if bumping it to 6 gig might help to speed it up ?
                          your thoughts.

It might. I stayed at 4 gigs and got faster memory. More memory wouldn't hurt anything.

Yeah, maybe I will give it shot see if it helps.
