    Graphic Card Question

    Hi
I just changed my graphic card from the BFG GeForce 9800GT 1GB to the XFX ATI Radeon HD 5770, If I'm right ATI cards don't support CUDA, just DXVA, my question is are there any setup tricks to setting up DvdFab Bluray to Bluray or the graphic card itself?
    Thanks for any help. Papajo

The only other option I know of is to use CoreAVC instead. If you have DXVA showing up for you your lucky. I have a HIS 5770 that I just upgraded to and while DXVA is supported by the card it is not supported in Vista by DVDFab(at least for me). In fact I haven't had any DXVA love from either of my cards in Vista. On the old 8500GT I put in a test rig I get DXVA in XP but not in Vista.
I feel your pain though. I thought replacing my free 8500GT with a $160 ATI HD 5770 wold improve performance but it doesn't as ATI doesn't do CUDA and DVDFab at the moment doesn't do ATI Avivo. Bummed me out becasue I plan on Crossfiring this card as I read that 2 5770's outperform a single 5850 for less cost. I have the E7500 also although having it overclocked to 4 GHz didn't bring any signigicant speed gains. I'm back to using the 8500GT in a spare rig and that gets re-encoding done in about 9-10 hours compared to 20+ in my main rig with the ATI. The main advice your going to get here is a better Quad core processor-i7's are said to run the process faster and to get a video card that uses CUDA. Check the list link from the GPU Accleration List sticky on the first page. There you wil find a list of users who posted their cards, accleration options and results. After that just rub the buddhas belly and wish for ATI Avivo support in the near future. Also a note. Another user just a few posts ago upgraded toa 9800GT or GX and he reported a longer recode time with the 9800 and CUDA than his old ATI HD 3xxx series card.

Funny, I just went from a cheap Radeon card to a GeForce card with CUDA and I really don't see any mjor improvements as of yet...I do have to experiment a bit though.....

I have a couple of weeks to play with this card, the store I purchased it from has a 30 day return. I may have to go back to an NVIDIA card. Going to a i7 core chip means I'd need a new motherboard, really didn't want to go that route. Thanks Papajo

        Here is DvdFab codec info:

        Graphics Chipset :
        ATI Radeon HD 5700 Series

        Supported Video Codecs :
        DXVA_MODE_H264
        DXVA_MODE_VC1

        CoreAVC : cannot be detected.

Maybe I shouldn't complain, a 2 hour bluray takes around 4 hours to backup. That's using beta version 7.0.5.8.

Is that Full Disc BD50 to BD25 or Main Movie to BD25/9/5. At least you get DXVA acceleration on your XFX 5770. I gambled with HIS and lost. Of course I have Vista and you have Windows 7 so that might be the difference.

That's main movie, 50BD to 25BD. I use Verbatim 6x BD-R disc, my Pioneer BDR 205 burner will burn them at 10x using Img Burn.
