I am still getting video distortions around in 5, 10 and 15 minute increments in Full Disc BD-25 and Main Movie BD-25 with no compression. Reproduced results on 2 different computer set-ups multiple times. 1st computer is Gigabyte GA-EX38-DS4, Core 2 Duo e7500 2.93Ghz, 4GB OCZ Platinum DDR2 1066 PC2 8500, Windows Vista Home Premium SP 2 32-bit,LG WH10S30, same results with both Geforce 8500 GT 512MB and ATI Raedeon HD 5770 1GB. Second computer is ASUS P5N32-E SLI Pentium Dual Core E2180 2.0Ghz, 3GB Crucial DDR2 667 PC2 5300, same results on both Windows XP Pro SP 3 32-bit and Windows Vista Ultimate SP 2 64-bit,No blu ray drive transfer ISO fro USB drive mounted on DVDfab Virtual Drive, same results with GeForce 8500 GT 512MB, Geforce 9500 GT 1GB, and ATI Raedeon HD 5770 1GB on this set-up. Always within 1m 30s of the 5 minute multiple usually before but not always. Am wondering since the watermark on trial version pops every few minutes if this is causing the disortion maybe some internal conflict between whatever tells the water mark to appear and the registration key. At first I thought it was just from compressed to BD-25 but after doing a main movie of Alice in Wonderland(2010) to BD-25 with no compression I found glitching at 4m 53s into the film. Reproduced this also in The Messenger Main Movie BD-25 with no compression with glitching starting at 3m 38s. It happens on all A/V settings I've tried, even software only for all A/V option that worked for others in fixing the video corruption but not for me( it did have the smallest visible distortion but it was still there and very noticable). This happens on ISOs mounted with DVDFab Virtual drive and Images burned to BD-RE played on LG WH10S30, PS3 Fat, and Panasonic BD60 standalone. I would take a screen shot with PowerDVD but it is not available for Blu-Ray playback. I tried using VLC to watch the .m2ts file but playback is very choppy and the Media Codec Info tab shows massive frame dropping. If I use PowerDVD to play the .m2ts file it is fine i.e not choppy. Is there another way I can take a screenshot so I can post it for you to see the distortion/corruption I'm talking about?

I just want to comment on this part of the message. Try this Player (Media Player Classic Home Cinema). this is the only working player I know, and it's available in both x86 and x64 version (I have both installed on my machine). Give it a try, you will thank me later:
It's freeware BTWsigpic

I had this downloaded already but hadn't installed it yet.(MPC) I tried it out and it looks good. Only frame dropping is when I move the marker to a different part of the film. The glitching is visible in this player also. The capture feature however is grayed out. Is there any other way I can take a screen shot of the distortion to post so you can see what I'm talking about. With it minimized with the software only A/V settings it looks similar to a line distortion you might see in a damaged VHS tape. With all other settings(CoreAVC,CUDA,DXVA) teh glitching takes up more of the screen and looks more like the blocking you would get in a momentarily lost digital satellite signal. In Alice in Wonderland Main movie with no compression, the first glitch looks like the bad VHS tape and also kind of skips. The woman in the scene turns away from the party shes talking to and when the glitch happens her face skips back to facing front then turns away for a second time.

You can pause player and Print Screen (Ctrl+Prt Sc), then open anything like Microsoft Paint would be easiest one, paste, trim, save, post. Or you can use ImageGrabber from here: http://www.videohelp.com/tools/ImageGrabbersigpic

Thanks for the tip. My friend had mentioned the MS Paint but forgot about holding Ctrl with PrtScn. I had a bit of a time getting the screen shots but the Frame Step option helped out. None of the veiwing programs I've used will pause on the glitch so this was a big help. Hope these upload fine and you can see what I'm talking about. This was from the Main Movie BD-25 copy with no compression of Alice in Wonderland(2010). Frame 1 and 2 are the same frame shot with different degrees of distortion. When Frame Stepping I get the distortion shown in Frames 1&2 first then the next 2 frame steps look fine then the fourth frame step shows the distortion in AIW Frame 3. The distortions are usually in the top 1/4 or bottom 1/4 of the screen. The severity of the distortion in BD-25 compression depends on what A/V options is chosen the worst being CUDA and the best being Software. CUDA made distortions can be 3/4 to the whole screen. I don't know if the A/V setting makes a difference in Main Movie mode with no compression. I hadn't thought of it till now but the A/V option has been set to all software
for all the Main Movie no compression copies I've made. I'll try it with CUDA for decoding to see if the distortion is the same or worse. I'm not sure if using CUDA for encoding will make any difference, but will try it just to see.Last edited by DharmaBummed69; 06-11-2010, 09:40 PM.

Well, I think I will call time out at this point... I need to do some research. Also, maybe somebody else having better idea, and I'll forward it to devs as well. Hang on...sigpic

I get the same sort of distortion with any BD movie that I remove the HD audio from with no compression. I end up always using a BD 50 disc and keep the HD audio and have no audio or video problems but of course the cost of the BD 50 makes it frustrating as I can't use a BD 25 without compression, as I don't like to use compression as it causes even more problems.
A note of interest, when I remove any HD DTS master audio, my playstation 3 will only play audio when I change the decoding to bitstream. It will not see the audio at all if player tries to decode the core DTS stream within the player itself. I would love to find out how I can stop the video and audio problems so I could use more BD 25 discs for my backups!Bill the Dog

Hello Feng Tao. Thank you for your response. I'm not sure if it's a specific disc. I've had this problem with almost every disc I've tried. I had this a few weeks ago and posted on a thread by W&B with the same problem. Using software only worked in fixing it for him, but alas not for me. I have since that post recieved my BD-REs and tried the copy on PS3 as W&B was using with unfortunatly the same results I was having before.
BD-50 to BD-25 with video distortion(with HD audio)-Hurt Locker, Weeds S4 discs 1 & 2, Akira, Precious, Sherlock Holmes(2009) Hurt Locker done 4 times-CUDA,CoreAVC,DXVA, and software with same results varing distortions CUDA&DXVA being the worst and CoreAVC& software with best results but still with distorting.
Main Movie BD-25 no compression with HD Audio-Sherlock Holmes with HD audio removed,American Werewolf in London, and Alice in Wonderland(2010)
I discovered the Main Movie distortions last week after I gave up on BD-25 compression for a bit. Waiting 9-12 hours for the same results became a bit discouraging.
I noticed that pretty much all these movies came out in the last year or so. I decided to try some older movies, but in the interesrt of saving time I tried to scoure my movie collection for ones that I could copy the main movie with out
compression. Unfortunatly I couldn't find many movies like this that I have so I decided to just do Main Movie on a couple of older ones I have that were already on BD-25 instead of BD-50. I tried Main Movies of Crash and THe Aviator with the Main Movies being about 19-20GB. These Main Movie copies do not seem to have the glitching. I haven't watched them all through but neither had a gltiching in the 4-5 minute mark like all the above movies have.
I'm nt sure why these movies were not affected. Of the top of my head the main differences are . They are on BD-25 natively, they both came out in 2007, and neither have HD audio. The Aviator has DD 6.1 but I don't think that's the same as Dolby True HD.
The BD-50 copies I make of these movies look fine. I've used Media Player Classics Frame Step feature to check the same spots in the BD-50's and no trace of the glitches that I can see.Last edited by DharmaBummed69; 06-12-2010, 07:34 PM.
