    Unable to copy Blu-Ray movies - 1000(505.00 259)

It looks like I am unable to backup any blu-ray movies to my hard disk when I upgraded to 7.0.8.0 (It was working fine when I was using 7.0.7).

If I were to copy the main movie at 100% quality, the process appeared to be successful, but I cannot play back the movies at all.

If I were to copy with re-coding, then it resulted in an error. Here are the pertinent log entries.

I am running this on a Dell Inspiron E1405 laptop, connected via USB an LB CH08LS10 BD drive.

I hope someone can tell me what's wrong and how to fix it.

    Regards,
    Derek

As my good friend and colleague, IPopov said, upgrade to the latest version.

Also, what do you mean you cannot play back the movies at all?

What software are you using to try to do this?

When re-encoding, try it with any GPU acceleration turned off.

I'll update to 7.0.8.2 and will respond to this thread.

To answer GregiBoy, I cannot play back the movies, using the Popcorn Hour, Windows Media Player (I'm using Windows 7) and VLC. None of the above worked!

Keep in mind that this used to work flawlessly when I was using 7.0.7.

          Derek,
try this player, it should work for you. If your OS W7 is 64 bit, there is 64bit version: http://mpc-hc.sourceforge.net/downlo...lassic-hc.html
Please let me know how it worked for you.

Thanks, Ipopov. I'm still ripping the The Wolfman at the moment.

I do have a side question. I'm doing a "Blu-ray to Main Movie" operation (at 100% quality) and I noticed that, at least, for "The Wolfman", what's in the "STREAM" directory is _not_ just one file, but many, many files.

Is this a problem with DVDFab suggesting the wrong "angle" as the main movie or is this some new behavior? In the past, I would only have one file in the "STREAM" directory.

            Regards,
            Derek

@ 100% quality copying, DVDFab preserves an original BR structure (i.e. multiple m2ts files as it om original BD). There's nothing to worry about here.

OK. Here is the result. The (main) movie was copied and there were many files in the directory. None of those files can be played individually by Media Player Classic. I even tried opening the STREAM directory but was unsuccessful. Both cases ended up with Media Player Classic complaining that it "Cannot render the file".

I'm going to try the compression copy now. In 7.0.8.0, this would result in an error. Note that I've already checked that only software rendering is being used.

                Derek

Also, to add on to what my buddy ipopov said, when playing a blu ray with MPC-Home Cinema(which is a great free player for BDs) instead of just playing the M2TS files singly, which will give you problems, play back the "index.bdmv" file in the BDMV folder. You can go to "File" then "Quick Open File" and navigate to where its at or just drag-n-drop that file into MPC and it will play back the blu ray just as if you were playing it from disc. Also, I would right click on that file and go to "Open With..." MPC-Home Cinema and set it to be the default program to open those types of files then all you gotta do is double click it and it opens and plays!

                    Hi Racem22,

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried it but got the same error, "Cannot render the file".

What I'm really trying to do is to set it up so that I can use the Popcorn Hour to play back the movie. I don't have a dedicated BD player and my Popcorn Hour fulfills that function. I'm quite disappointed that it stops working all of a sudden.

Anyway, I've initiated a "compression copy" now (at 95%). I'll keep my fingers crossed.

                    Regards,
                    Derek

I think I had an issue sort of like this once as well. I think that maybe the blu ray got corrupted in the decrypting process. Make sure you have it set to check for new versions and click "OK" if it asks to connect to the internet. Also, make sure that it analyzes the disc before you click "Start". The little blue bar that goes across at the bottom and tells you what size the end result is going to be.

I had problems ripping Wolfman. I rip main movie, without compression. The rip runs fine Then i try to play the movie, mpc or vlc. I use the "open directory" function and the movie start fine. Every time the player moves to the next .m2ts file it jumps a bit into the file. Seems to jump many minutes.
Strange - after reading this thread for the 3rd time - I see the solution is served by Racem22.
Choosing "open file" and selecting the index.bdmv solves the problem. Strange that the players fail when using the "directory" option.
BTW regardles of using the "directory" or .bdmv method no subtitles seems to be conserved by DvdFab. Downloading subtitles doesnt work well, both players abandon them every time the .m2ts file shifts.
It seems to me that it would be preferable that DvdFab would create 1 m2ts file when the "main movie" option was selected

Fab retains the original structure of the disk. You shouldn't need to open the index.bmv. You should open the root directory of the disk under which all the subdirectories are contained.

Try Media Player Classic - Home Cinema as VLC is still having a few problems with BluRay.
