    newbe blu ray question

I've used dvdfab for regular dvd copying. Just now trying blu ray writing. I downloaded a movie file from a file sharing sight. It was a blu ray file. I did get it onto a 25gig rewrite blu ray disc and it played on my stand alone blu ray player.
I would like to know what along with dvdfab (I guess) is a good free or pay software to get the downloaded files from .rar right to a burnable blu ray disc?? I think I did a little to many steps to get my download blu ray file to burn to a disc that played on my blu ray player on the tv.

I un-rared it and I think I turned it into a .m2ts file. Then I think I turned it into a .mkv file. I then used a demo of ( AVS VIDEO CONVERTER 6.4) to finally covert it to enable me to burn it to the 25gig re-write blu ray disc.

Don't laugh . So anyone, please help me to do this better. I was doing this most of yesterday, and when I finally got it to burn to the disk, It took about 6 and a half hours to burn. Thank you.
