    Backups Won't Play on PS3

I've backed up several disks that have played on both of my PS3's but lately nothing I rip will play once burned onto a disk in my PS3's.

After searching the forums I've selected the box "remove HD audio" and tried that and still nothing.

I've done both full disk and main movie only

The files I back up will play on my computer as well the disks I burn.

The disks I'm using, and have made several working ones with in the past, are Memorex BD-R 4X 25GB Single Layer

I've made about 6 coasters lately and have even tried using my Memorex BD-RE 25GB disks with the same result.

I have been using Nero 9 to burn the disks, and again have had no problems in the past using Nero. There is never an error in DVDFab or in Nero so no error logs to post but here are my machine specs and the DVDFab log files.

    Windows 7 64Bit Ultimate
    Intel Core Quad 2 Q9650 CPU @ 3.00GHz
    8GB Memory
LG BH08LS20 with the most up to date firmware
NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT X2 in SLI

    Two things to check:

    - are the discs readable on PC?
    - did you update the PS3 fw and that stopped some discs from playing anymore?

NEVER use VSO burn engine, and stop using Nero. (my opinion)

      ...use Imgburn.

Yes they read on my PC.
Since the PS3 forces you to upgrade firmware it is on the most recent firmware but all of my previous disks that played on my PS3 still play on my PS3.

crackinhedz, if I had never burned Blu-Rays successfully with Nero or the VSO burn engine I would probably think they were to blame as well but I have and I did try Imgburn on a couple of disks. Again no errors, files and disks played on PC but not my PS3's (which are my Blu_Ray players)

PS3 doesn't really force you, unless you want to use PSN or latest games, etc. But anyway, that's another matter, for now we excluded the fw since you said that some older discs worked on any fw.

So is a recent DVDFab version that created a disc that is not playing? And the discs that worked were created with older version?

That would be correct. I'm guessing something has changed with DVDFab that the PS3's are not liking. I even just took one of my old working disks and one of the new nonworking on the PS3 disks to my neihbor's house and tried them on his PS3 and had the same result.

Since I use the Playstation network to play online I have to upgrade firmware.

Please try the latest version 7.0.9.2 and use a BD-RE to test if it fixes the problem you're having.

I just noticed an issue with playing back up Blu rays on my PS3 yesterday. When I insert the BD-R the PS3 takes a few minutes to recognize the disc on the XMB. Do you see the disc under video on the XMB?

Yeah the disk showed up but if I clicked on it it would think about it and then "crash" back the the XMB screen and display an error that it couldn't be played. And again ti wasn't doing it on older disks I had burned a while ago.

My newest try on a RE disk is about ready so crossing my fingers.

Well knock on wood the first one I was able to complete worked! I'll have to go back and try others again but I was able to backup "Tooth Fairy" and it worked on my PS3.

Now I'm wondering if I should try without removin HD audio since that didn't used to be an issue.

                      Thanks for your help padre!

No worries. I'm glad it worked for you

The HD audio should not be an issue. Ppl usually remove that to save space because quality-wise is not a big drop anyway.

All the best and do the tests with a BD-RE

                          Friends discs pay better offline

I burned a couple of discs, both movie only and full disc, on bd-r 25's and he had success playing them in his PS3 offline. When he was online the discs will not work. Offline they were recognized and played perfectly. He has the older brick model (80gb i believe) And if you can, do not upgrade the firmware as Sony slips in new copy protection and detections ALL the time in firmware. My advice for Blu-ray is get a stand alone player. You will have none of the headaches of the PS3 with regard to blu-ray playback. You can find all sorts of models in the 100.00 and up range online.
