BR to BR - "An Unknown error occured."

I have not been able to rip a BR disk for quite some time now. In every version prior to 7.0.9.0 , it would not error the disc simply would not open. Now with 7.0.9.0 i recieve "An Unknown error occured." It is the same error on all 3 computers, it is when it attempts to open the BRD for ripping. It appears it is having some problem opening the disc. DVDFab passkey has exactly the same error. It says almost nothing in the internal log. I will include it. I have tried 3 different BRD, Revenge of the fallen, Star Trek, and Allice in wonderland. This is extremely frustrating, is it possibly antivirus or a patch or something that has caused this? I recieve this same error on all 3 different computers,

Additional Troubleshooting for Unknown Error

I have looked through the Event viewer in windows there are no errors indicated.
Is there any other additional troubleshooting i can do?

I did pay for this software, i am not using the free trial version.

This is really strange as no one else has reported this issue.

A couple of things to try.

Do an uninstall and then run CC Cleaner over the machine until all registry entries are cleaned. Then do a reinstall of the latest beta downloaded from this forum using the procedures outlined in my "Registration Problems?" thread religiously.

BTW: Is this error with this one title or all titles?

I would suspect that your BR needs some cleaning. Go get yourseld a disc cleaning kit, clean it and see if it works. If not, take it back for an exchange.

I did exactly as you said and removed everything and then ran ccleaner many times . Rebooted, Installed the newest version 7.0.9.3. Made sure to follow the registration instructions to the letter.
Still same error. As soon as it tries to open the disk it throws the error. It does this on all disks i put in. Only on blu ray disks though. I also purchased a lifetime dvd license and dvd to dvd works perfectly.
Is there any sort of extended debugging mode that would show what is causing the error? Tonight i uninstalled most anything i could think of that would be messing with it, for instance AVG.
Are there other programs that conflict or cause problems with DVDfab? I still have alcohol 120% installed and that emulated drives, but not blu ray disks.
I also checked the quality of the disks and they look pristine.
It is just very weird that it does it so quickly, and then the drive cannot be selected any more from the source pulldown. You can play all the disks no problem with cyberlink powerdvd br edition.
Does DVDfab have issues with certain hardware that you know of?
Can I use the BR drive in usb mode to test with other systems? I was going to build a fresh system if thats what it takes.

Please let me know what to do.

Harq,
you are trying to copy, not to play. Copying requires every bit being on its place, while player usually have very loose rules for skipping.
Anyway, "look pristine" doesn't prove anything, it could be manufacturing defect you would never see... Please download VSO Inspector and check your disc.

Ran VSO scan on 2 discs

Hello Again Ipop,

I ran the VSO inspector on 2 different disks, both came up 100% clean. For a test on another PC i installed (removed), and it seemed to work perfectly, now granted i cannot compress the disk size, it did unlock and rip the disk perfectly. Is there any more information on this error "An unknown error has occured"? Maybe if i knew more about what caused this error i could figure out the cause?

Ok why does it seem like all the discs you're ripping have a volume label of "COD4MW"? Which I'm guessing stands for Call Of Duty 4 Modern Warfare. It just seems weird to me. You are using the original bought discs right?

I don't know whats going on really, just the 3 different volume label thing looks fishy. For each disc it has Volume Label: COD4MW then the next one says the actual movie name then the next one says Volume Label: COD4MW again.

Oh I see I think. You have 2 different drives in this computer and one of them has Call Of Duty in it and the other one has your movie in it. Try taking out the game then re-try ripping.

I accidentally had that disk in one of the drives when i was trying to rip the BR disk. I have actually 6x rom type drives on this computer. 3 dvd burner/lightscribe(physical), 1 BR drive(physical), it also has 2x virtual drives that come with Alcohol 120%.

You brought up a point, does any other software make DVDfab unstable/unusable?

Is it limited based on ROM drives? I have tried it on multiple computers and i still get the "An unknown error has occured."

If the programmer could just give me a hint on what an "Unkown Error" is....

After your reply i am going to build a new pc and try reinstalling bare bones, to see if i can emulate it.

Why don't you try uninstalling Alcohol 120% once and try it again. That might be causing issues.

Harq, You mentioned all kind of drives physical and emulated, other software, Passkey, etc. Is there chance that you were running DVDFab and Passkey at the same time? They are not best friends, and Passkey causes all kind of issues for DVDFab... Please look into it...

first of all, did this happened with other discs or is it the first time you see such a message ("unknown error")?
Also, would you be so kind to upload somewhere a file from the disc? I'd like to check \AACS\MKB_RO.inf from ALICEINWONDERLAND.
