    Compression Percentage

This is probably a stupid question but I have been wondering about it for a while now, so I'm just going to ask - What seems like a decent percentage to work with as a maximum when backing up bluray movies? Some movies are obviously much bigger than others and so far all of the backups I've done are usually in the 80s...I don't even notice any degradation of quality in this high of a range and didn't expect to. Has anyone done a movie that was down in the 50s? If so, what was picture quality like? I'm just trying to figure out what percentage or general number to not surpass due to too much compression. I know someone who backed up "Movie Only" for Transformers 2 and said the percentage was in the 60s but still the picture quality was fantastic.

Basically its all a matter of opinion and what one person sees as degradation of quality another might not, so my suggestion is if you get a movie that you have to compress that much, try it out and see if you think it looks fine. Another factor is what you're playing it on. If you have a 1080p 62" LED HDTV you will obviously notice more quality loss than if you were watching the same thing on a 32".

Screen size is important but the distance you sit away from it is also.

I have had a guy complaining about quality while sitting 3 feet away from a 60" HD TV.
