    Stand alone Playback

    Hello everyone;
Being late and new to the game, I'm sure that I missed the answers to these questions.
Why is that I have issues with my backups being read on stand alone BluRay players, ie PS3, and Insigina NS-WBRDVD. Everything that I burn will play in the PC it was burned on but that's it. I admit that I am the newest of newbies but, I thought that DVDFab was supposed to be pretty much a few clicks and go! I thought that I may have had a problem with the drive itself at first. So, I checked for updates for the firmware and after some searching I did find that there was indeed an update available (drive LITEON iHBS112 2 firmware update CL0B) @ firmwarehq.com. I flashed and verified the firmware update and very little changed. Well, I did manage to get a burn of a main movie @ 25BD 1080p/i that worked in the Insigina but not the PS3. The PS3 didn't even recognize that the Disc was there as with all of the previous burns that attempted. So i have been trying very hard to pin down the actual culprit in this drama. The BluRay media is way to expensive to continue screwing up. Can anyone help me! Any input at this point would be appreciated. Oh, and all funny people save your jokes... this is serious for me.
    Thanks All!

Did you make sure your stand alone BD players firmware was up to date same goes for the PS3? Also maybe you should invest in a BD+RE (Rewritable) Blank so you not waste money.

      Hi morganxtra,

you propably won't have any luck playing Bluray backups on your PS3. The playstation does not accept writable media, so no BD-R in the PS3.
The only way to circumvent this is to equip your PS3 with a so called "modchip". Just google for it.
      Hope I could help you!
In standard bluray players, they should work (when they don't have the same restriction as the PS3, they usualy don't).

Ah! Back to Basics Step 1, Thank you!

Ah! words of wisdom; Hello AGJ!
I did check for updates with PS3 and I am not quite sure how to check the Insigina. The player usually updates itself via the built-in WiFi connection it has, if that covers the firmware I am not sure but I would like to think that it does. As Far as the media goes I think that you are absolutely correct about using the re-writable media, thanks for the tip. I really have so much to learn about the entire BluRay burning process almost any feedback at this point gets me one step closer to a better understanding as to what is needed to do this properly and efficiently. By the way, have you heard of these types of issues that That I am having from somewhere, or someone else. On the the Newegg website there were postings about similar issues as the one that I am having but they all seem to have solved their issues with a firmware update to the burner itself, why it won't work for me is my mystery I guess.

        Thanks again AGJ.

Nope, but I once had a PS2, and it had the same problem with DVDs . And since Sony is a PITA in this matter, I am reasonably sure that the PS3 has the same problem.

PS: I just googled a little for the PS3 modchip. It seems that there is none as of today .

But I can tell you that backed up Blurays work on my Samsung 3D Player.

I not have Blu-ray player or PS3 so not able to help in this area but have you tried removing the HD Audio to see if that works but pick up a BD-RE before you burn to disc so you not get any more expensive coasters. Also maybe post the burn, process and internal logs as well and they located in document-dvdfab-log

What are the Blu-ray movies you trying to do that not work? I have feeling it an Audio problem but not sure as I not do Blu-ray and still waiting for someone to reply that knows something more about Blu-ray and PS3

Sisternicky: I'm almost positive that the PS3 is able to play BD-R backups. If it wasn't, why would they bother putting the Cinavia protection on it that mutes the audio on BD-R backups that are Cinavia-enabled(only one movie at the moment) but you understand what I'm sayin'.

Hmm i've burn't bd-r and bd-re both play back on ps3 fine no problems.
did you burn the disc as iso? think there was issue with burning folders that will not play back on ps3,best to make iso output.
check it that plays on your pc fine then finally burn it using imgburn.

Thanks for all your responces guys!

Thanks guys, I knew that it has to be a way for this thing to work, and most of you confirm that for me. But, I need to know how you are getting it done. What set up/process do you use to make it work? I think that that is the information that would be the most helpful to me at this point. Like the suggestion to rip the back up as iso then use imgburn to burn it. Are you saying that DVDfab is not the software to use for what I'm trying to do? Or, is that it is only good for ripping and not burning? I guess I will have to keep digging until this mystery is solved. Keep the tips coming guys.

                        thanks again.

Rip blu ray to hardrive either as iso or folder without compression.
if you want just main movie select the source (iso, folder) output as bd25 iso.
for whole bluray shrunk to bd25 you'll have compression it and ouput it as iso (find that burning just the folder doesn't work effectively for me)

you can check the iso are working ok by mounting and playing either with powerdvd or total theatre media players.if the iso don't play well and are stuttering don't burn them redo and check your settings.
burn the iso to disc using imgburn.

you could not be more wrong.

The PS3 plays BD-R just fine.

When burning a disc, you have to ensure you burn using file system UDF 2.50 and have both BDMV & Certificate folder.

Imgburn is what I use, and would recommend.
