    DTS-HD and Dolby TrueHD Question

I apologize if this question has been addressed before. I searched the forum and scanned through some of the earlier threads without finding it so I decided to ask it myself.

I play my backups using a Samsung BD-P2550 through a Yamaha receiver which has decoding for DTS-MA and Dolby TrueHD built in. It displays the format being decoded on the front panel while the movie is playing. The original discs are mostly either DTS-MA or Dolby TrueHD, but all of the backups appear to be PCM. I do not compress my backups or select "remove HD audio". Is DVDFab simply converting these proprietary formats to PCM without compression, or is it not yet possible for us to have lossless audio on our BD backups?

That's kind of odd. I just did a movies last night with DTS-MA and played fine on my Onkyo. I usually back the movie only with 1 audio and 1 subtitle. I know you probably arlready have, but make sure you checkmark the audio you want and uncheckmark the audio you don't.

DVDFab doesn't convert DTS-MA or Dolby TrueHD to PCM.

Does the sound output correctly? If so, the audio itself is correct.
DVDFab is the all-in-one software package for copying Blu-ray/DVD and converting video file.

sounds like its a setting in your player or receiver that is not set correct.

The samsung should be set to Bitstream (Audiophile).

Not sure what yamaha receiver you are using, but hdmi audio out should be off. HDMI Audio = AMP (not AMP+TV)

My Samsung player reset the audio output format when I last updated it. You are correct to point out that this setting needs to be Bitstream(Audiophile). My receiver now correctly reports the disc audio format DTS-HD MA for my Iron Man 2 backup. Thanks.
