    BD 9 Problems

    Hi guys.

Having a problem when trying to rip The Chamber of Secrets to BD 9.

The copying is done fine, but instead of it being an 8GB file, it is still 33GB.

It also tries to burn the .m2ts files afterwards, asking me to insert a blank disc.

I have already ripped The Dark Knight, with no problems whatsoever, using the BD 9 option.

    Any ideas ?

Managed to get that sorted, but now the problem is the quality of the rip.

It is being copied to BD9, but the quality looks almost SD.

I have done other movies recently with the same settings and the quality has still been very good.

I have noticed that after analyzing, the quality was a lower percentage on The Chamber of Secrets than on the other movies I ripped.

I also noticed that the bitrate that it was being re-encoded at was almost half of the other movies.

Is there any way around this ?

I also tried ripping the movie using the slower but better settings, and there was no real difference.

Select remove HD Audio as that is about 3 to 5 gb in size and not compressible

Yeah, I have that selected, and I have removed all the other audio, non English.

It still says that the file is 22.4 GB in size, meaning that it is a bigger loss in quality down to 8 GB.

No kidding, it's a big movie. What do you expect - you are trying to squeeze 2+ hrs movie with high bitrate and expect result of 1.5 hr movie. You can try to split the movie and get better quality that way.

I have a Blu-ray converted to WMV which is just over 5gb and the picture quality is still way better than DVD but you have to expect video quality loss compress such large video to such a small size. The output will still be better picture quality than a DVD just not Blu-ray quality

Well I was expecting a better quality video considering it is 8 GB

Yeah I understand, I just don't understand how I can rip two blu rays, with the exact same settings, exact same things removed from them, and for there to be such a big difference in the output quality.

One movie could have been filmed and edited better than the other which would be the cause for the difference. Less features on one movie compared to the other, like menus, special features and stuff. They come into play as well when video quality is involved. Less stuff to remove means better picture quality
