New user – some backups never finish

    Hi

I have been using DVD FAB for a few weeks (demo and then purchased it). I have successfully backed up the Davinci Code, The Fifth Element and Avatar using the option to read an original disk and upon successful read, insert a black BR-R 25 and after less than 2 hours the whole process is complete and the disk plays on my PS3. Really easy

I have been unable to backup The Bourne Identity, The Bourne Supremacy or Ratatouille using this method. So I tried changing the target to C: and left it at 50 (no compression). This went fine, the bluray was read successfully but when I tried to either burn to a BD 25 disk or select the target as a different internal HD with the option to fit on to a BD 25 disk the process just hangs (the analyzing completes) at a low percentage. No error message is presented. The xx MB/s drops to zero (and at this point the MB/s disappears) leaving the Percent at in this case (Ratatouille) at 21.43%. On occasion I have left it running for perhaps 3 hours (no progress after say 20 minutes).

    My PC:
    Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit
    Intel Core i7 CPU 920 2.67 GHz
    3.00GB Ram
ATI Radeon HD 4800 (driver 8.771.0.0 dated 25/08/2010)
4 SATA 500 GB Hard Drives
    LG BH10LS30.AUAU10B 10x Internal BDRW

I have CyberLink PowerDVD 10 and AnyDVD HD installed (not running whilst using DVD FAB).

I hope I have provided enough information, thank you:

    Hi sandriderman
First Open Fab Click the Green top right > General > A/V Codec set to all Software restart Fab and try again.

22:09:43: You are going to try "Blu-ray Copy" option.

Second open Fab click the Blue ? click about what does it say for the options that you have purchased? If it says trial it seems that your registry may not have stuck, if so give this a read through

Hi CBR929, thanks for your suggestions.

I tried setting the options in the menu you suggested to Software, restarting and this made no difference.

I checked the registration information and this looked ok.

So I decided to do a fresh installation of Windows XP on a seperate hard drive, ran all windows updates, got the latest drivers for my graphics card and installed DVDFAB (and successfully entered my registration details). No other software is installed.

I went through the same steps with Ratatouille and got the same problems - I can successfully set the source as the bluray and set the target as a folder on my PC and backup the disk without compression but I am unable to then convert this to either a 25 bluray disk or a different folder on my PC.

When the original bluray was in if I set this as the source and select the option to make a 25gig version (files) on my PC this gave the problem.

So in all cases the process of converting the file from "50" to "25" fails. As I can do a full backup of the disk I guess the source data is ok.

This is the most recent log from XP Pro, with all the A/V Codec set to Software (got to about 1.5% I think):

I will have another go with the Bourne Identity to confirm it is not just a one off problem.

      Thanks for any help!

On my new XP installation I tried to back up the Bourne Identity with the original bluray disk in with the target a folder on the PC set to make the files fit on a 25 bluray disk. (I set the codec back to DXVA).

It got to 0.8% in 80 minutes:

The next thing I will try tomorrow is one that I have successfully backed up before to make sure I can still make backups.
