    MINORITY REPORT bd25 process crash

Hello. Compression from disk to BD50 went well. Compression of that folder to BD25 crashed DVDFab after 5 hours of compression time. It seems it crashed just before finishing the task (the task bar was all over to the right and almost complete!). Here are the logs:

    DVDFab 8.0.2.2 (2010/10/06 19:48:51)

    Also, here's the cool thing:

Even thought only the BDMV folder was created, the 01052.m2ts file in the stream folder plays fine with VLC!

So even though DVDFab crashed, the produced m2ts file is complete and has good integrity (played it to the end credits just fine).

    Weird?

      Hi Bendit:
Would you please attach the log file?

It will pop up the Reprot dialog when DVDfab crashed, then save to zip which have crashdump.dmp. It is key of clue. And another question, does it repro everytimes?

ah ok! thanks! I am not sure if it repros every time. I will try again tonight (since it takes so long I do it while I sleep). You know, that main movie is 42 gigs! It's huge!

I will let you know. Thanks!

bendit, you can use tsMuxeR to revert your m2ts file back into bluray disc structure...it only takes a few minutes. (no need to process all over again)

Thanks for the advice! I was wondering if overwriting the uncompressed m2ts file from the bd50 folder with the compressed one would work. Would it? Thoughts?

I guess theoretically it might work? ...make sure the file names match.

                    Yeah, the files would match.

                    Doesn't matter.

I have re-tried the process, and it worked!

WEIRD! The process completed successfully after 8:03. LOG:

Here is a theory. Windows 7 automatically defragments the hard drives based on a schedule. Out of the box it runs on Wednesdays at 1:00am. I was compressing during that time. That's a theory eh? Otherwise my system never fails to compress supported movies. Never.

That's one reason why I disable the Windows 7 defragger, and install my own and run it when I want to. Diskeeper Pro Premier, Perfectdisk Pro, and O&O Defrag Pro are all good ones.
