The free version of Passkey is called Passkey Lite. It does not remove all protections from Blu-rays OR DVDs. You can read about it here:

Actually passkey free as long as they are regular DVD's. You have to pay for it for the Bluray DVDs. The DVDFab I have isn't the trial version. I've had it for about 4 years now & never had these problems before putting Windows 7 on the computer.

I guess I should have said DVDFab Passkey instead of decryptor. Where would I find the HD Decrypter part of DVDFab. I've looked & don't see anything available other than DVDFab & if I can't open Blurays with DVDFab then the decrypter part wouldn't be any good either or Im missing something. Yes it is frustrating thing to figure out and I do appreciate the help & suggestions. One of these times its going to work again.
    Hi JALCAD
    Filters look good.
The Hd Decrypter is all ready part of Fab, once the trial of Fab is over it reverts to the free version but you will no longer be able to compress and burn to disc, and also newer movies are not supported up to 90 days.

Did you uninstall Passkey when the trial was over or is it still installed?
I was just wondering if it reverts to free version like Fab and will not do newer movies until they are supported.

Or hope that maybe DVDFab would allow me a license for DVDDecrypter HD so that I can still use the program that I purchased to copy the blurays the way I used to be able to. And yes I know that it does work on others computers with windows 7 but also know that some others are having the same problem that I am having with windows 7 from some of the other posts.
    Hi JALCAD
Did you check to make sure that the filters were removed?

ImgBurn did not set these filters, the other program did, so it has exclusive rights to your burner and does not want to release it to no one.

Yes, I know other members have no problems at all thats why this is so hard to track down.
You should still have the free HD Decrypter for your movies but will be limited to new releases, you would have to wait about 90 days until they are supported.

Have you tried to reset DMA this has helped in the past
Open Fab Click the Green top right > General > make sure Check for DMA Automatically is Checked and also Click the Reset DMA to the right click OK and restart Fab, you may also have to restart your computer..
I wish I could be more helpful, this is confusing

Yes I have been having this problem before I installed the "other" on the fly decrypter & still have it afterwards. I installed the "other" one to see how it would rip blurays to ISO files so that I can still make copies of the blurays hoping that by some miracle DVDFab would start working again before the trial ran out.

    Hi JALCAD
Have you tried disabling the "other" on the fly decrypter you have installed?
    Try it.
My suggestion is to remove the filters installed by your other software through ImgBurn Open ImgBurn > Tools > Filter Driver Load Order > click on filter and click remove, you may have to restart your computer.
Some programs like to be the bully on the block and will refuse to let any other programs from accessing your drive and using it, except itself.
Remember that what ever program installed these filters may no longer work properly.

    Hi JALCAD

I think I actually downgraded my SATA drivers to get it working

Currently using Microsoft driver AHCI 1.0 Serial ATA (version 6.1.7601.17514)

If I update drivers it goes back to the nVidia one that causes me problems

Please Open ImgBurn > Tools > Filter Driver Load Order and post what is listed.

Well I looked at the events & I don't have that error but I have updated the drivers for the SATA & still get the same results. The strange thing is I can rip the blurays using any of other programs (trial) available without problems but can't use DVDFab for the same discs. DVDDecryptor would rip the iso file & I can open & finish it with DVDFab but DVDFab refuses to read the disc.

    Possible answer

    Hi JALCAD

Not sure if your problem was the same as mine but it took some digging to find my solution.

I have pasted what I did below.

For anyone who is getting the endless "open bluray source" issue.
    This may be a solution.
    It worked for me anyway.

DVDFABQT would not open any bluray disc.
    Kept getting stuck and freezing.
Only way out was to hard restart.

I checked my sytem logs (event viewer) and found I was getting nvstor64 event 129.
This seemed to correspond to the failures on DVDFAB.
My MOBO has nVidia SATA controller.
I did some checking and found many people have issues with nvstor64.
Someone suggested updating SATA driver manually and picking non nVidia version.
I tried this problem seems to be resolved.

Don't know if this will work for anyone else but it does for me.

I take it this must be a dead issue that won't get any resolution. At least that what it looks like to me. A shame that I'll have to look elsewhere for a new program

I have tried it with & without the Firewall enabled so it should have internet access. I can do regular DVDs in the bluray drive but not blurays. I've even a few blurays that I copied & burned when I have Windows XP on the same computer I'm having the problems with now. I would imagine that this would remove the need to access the internet for protection removal.

    Hi JALCAD
If Passkey worked and Fab will not, this leads me to believe that some thing is restricting Fab from either accessing the Internet or software-hardware related.
