or just on a computer? I just downloaded the trial of dvdfab. After some fiddling i succeed in cloning the dvd and it turned u in the dvdfab file. After cloning it said put in a empty dvd and i did several times but everytime it said the dvd was not empty although it was. When i clicked the clone in the dvdfab file and than burnt the iso it was ok. I wonder what im doing wrong. This is the first time i burnt something myself so im not familiar with stuff like this. I really would like to know if i can play the copy in say the dvdplayer in my bedroom?

Sure, you should be able to play bkup discs on a standalone player without any problems at all.
Tough to give you any specific advice without details.
Please post a burn log...just copy and paste it right here.
The default location is:
For Win7
C:\Users\User Name\My Documents\DVDFab\Log
or for XP
C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\My Documents\DVDFab\LogIf it ain't broke, don't fix it!

I think your problem is that you chose to use Clone! Clone does not compress the dvd file to fit a 4.7gb DVD which could be why you get that message. Try using Full Disc/Main Movie and select DVD5 as the Quality size unless you are using the Double layer blank media.
Anyway post the logs like asked for

yes i used clone, I thought i did full disk, but not movie cause i thought that was specific for movies ...you know when you have to try and understand something you know nothing about in your own language its difficult enough but for me in english.....its been more than 45 years ago i had that in school....and all these technical things like dvd5/dvd9 and so on, its hard but with all your help im sure im getting there!

I copied a video dvd now and that went well, no window telling me the disk wasnt empty i guess thats what you said, becuase of a datadisk. It chose videodisk itself and burnt it after copying. OK, i can play it in my separate pioneer dvd player as well, but the quality is terrible, alot of noise, snowlike crisseling, is that normal?
I wonder if it choses the encoding for the country itself as well, if not where can i see which to choose?

As that sounds more like a burn problem

Hi Marion,
A few issues...
Your burner is in PIO mode and it must be in DMA (Ultra DMA) to perform correctly.
From your log:
"2010-12-29 10:33:17 Info PIO Mode"
Please click on the DMA reset in Fab as shown here:
This may not do it, but it should work.
Please post back with a new burn log.
Your blank media,
"Media ID: RITEK-F16-01" is not the best media....not bad, but not good either.
It could have quite a few brand names such as Memorex, Fuji, Sony, Verbatim, etc.
Not sure what's available in The Netherlands, but if you can purchase Verbatim dvds an be certain the label displays the
AZO Metal logo...this is the good stuff.
Also, Taiyo Yuden is outstanding quality (made in Japan , now with the JVC label).
It is only available online for most of the planet.
For right now, let's just get your burner squared away in DMA mode and see if we can get you back to burning.
What exactly are you attempting to burn?
Not a movie?
Oh, and "most" of us here are "old-timers"...If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

no i copied software before using full disk copy and that worked fine when i made an image first and after that burnt the isofile.
But when i tried to copy a video dvd it copied it and burnt it and played it on my pioneer dvd player, but the quality is very poor.
Do i need to change the settings whenever i change between a data file or a video file?
